Dear john,
This week, I introduced the bipartisan Identifying and Eliminating Wasteful Programs Act, which would create a system to facilitate agency identification of wasteful programs and assist Congress with developing legislation to eliminate those programs.
I authored the Government Performance and Results Act Modernization Act back in 2010 to cut down wasteful government spending. The Identifying and Eliminating Wasteful Programs Act builds on that legislation to further protect taxpayer dollars.
I want to thank Senator Hassan, Senator Braun, and Congresswoman Mace for working with me to deliver common-sense, bipartisan solutions to reduce federal spending.
As always, if you need help with a federal agency, please contact one of my offices: - Washington D.C.: (202) 225-1640

I announced $247,100 in federal funding for the new Vietnam Veterans Plaza in Laredo. The project will consist of the construction of an approximately 1,400 foot-long, 10-foot-wide walking trail adjacent to the Joe A. Guerra Laredo Public Library. This development will honor all the brave men and women who fought for our country during the Vietnam War. As a nation, we are eternally indebted to those who have put on a uniform and fought for our freedom. This plaza is just a small token of appreciation for the many sacrifices made by our brave servicemembers in Vietnam. Thank you to the City of Laredo and Councilman Ruben Gutierrez for prioritizing this project. And to all our Veterans, thank you for your service!

I signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the City of Laredo for the World Trade Bridge Expansion project. The proposed project will almost double the bridge's lane capacity and significantly reduce crossing times for commercial vehicles. The project will also help alleviate traffic congestion and expedite the flow of trade into the United States.
