Dear John

Do you think the government should be doing more to tackle soaring energy costs?

Right now, we are missing a big opportunity. One that would help make
communities more resilient to both the climate and cost of living crises.

That’s why we’ve planned a new campaign calling on the government to put rooftop
solar panels on homes, businesses and warehouses. Allowing us to harness the
power of solar energy and produce huge amounts of cheap, low carbon electricity,
while protecting as much countryside as possible for farming, wildlife and
genuinely affordable housing.

With your support, we can urge the government to use this untapped resource and
adopt a renewables strategy that prioritises rooftops, car parks and brownfield
sites.

[[link removed]]In contrast to the UK’s approach, France has announced plans to fast track
renewable energy by requiring car parks nation-wide to be covered by solar
panels. This is predicted to generate up to 11GW of power, the same as 10
nuclear reactors. Meanwhile, Germany has also prioritised rooftops, with 80% of
its solar power coming from panels on roofs.

John, please donate today to urge the government to
follow suit and unlock the potential of rooftop solar.
