You'll send twice the rescue to children and families who are suffering. Families like Selvam's who we recently shared about. Selvam and his sisters worked alongside his mother and father in a rice mill for more than twenty years. Children should be born in freedom. Instead, Selvam's entire childhood was lost to laboring for an abusive mill owner.
At first Selvam went to school and returned to work at night. Then at 14, the mill owner threw away his school books and forced him to drop out of school to work during the day. The family wasn’t allowed to leave the mill after that and were “paid” with one kilogram of rice for every 100kg sack they packed. Most of this meager provision went back to the owner in a hopeless attempt to repay their debts.
Beyond rescue, you will help restore survivors, many who have endured decades of suffering. Any amount you give today will double to help take children from lives of pain to futures full of promise.
Gifts given by 11:59 p.m. on March 31 will double in impact up to a total of $300,000. Any amount above that total will be used to meet IJM’s most urgent needs. Stock image. Subjects depicted are not survivors of bonded labor, and images are used with consent.
