#HandsOffDC; Rally today
“It's now open season on DC's autonomy,” reports DC Vote. The Revised Criminal Code Act’s disapproval resolution is now with the Senate to be voted on any day now. “As President Biden said last week, if the Senate votes yes on the disapproval resolution, he will sign it into law. For the more than 700,000 residents of the District of Columbia, this is just the beginning of losing the right to govern ourselves and determine our own destiny,” said DC Vote. “But the Senate hasn't voted yet, so we're going to do everything we can to stop this resolution from passing. If this disapproval resolution is not met with any resistance, it will be an open season for further attacks. It’s time for the federal government to keep their #HandsOffDC. Airport workers rally for healthcare, jobs
Airport workers with 32BJSEIU rallied yesterday at DCA for health care, paid sick days, and good union jobs for all airport workers and all working people. “You all do the same work as me and my coworkers in Philadelphia,” said Cashay Davis, a wheelchair coordinator at Philadelphia International Airport, “but the difference is we all have health care and paid sick leave and you don’t.” |
Epps and Smalls elected to MWC Board
Metro Washington Council delegates last week unanimously elected Sam Epps and T. Smalls to the Council’s Executive Board. Epps (UNITE HERE 25) was elected Treasurer, and Smalls (Plumbers 5) will serve as an At Large member. |
