Cuts could come this year

GIVE RIGHT NOW to Fight Back Against Threats to Our Benefits!

Act Now!

Dear John,

Incredibly, after meetings with billionaires in the posh resort town of Davos, Switzerland, President Trump just publicly admitted that he's prepared to break his campaign promise not to touch Social Security and Medicare — possibly as soon as the end of this year!

When asked if he would consider tackling so-called "entitlements," President Trump casually suggested that he would be willing to "take a look at that" ... and "that's actually the easiest of all things." And these aren’t just one-off comments. Last year, President Trump was quoted as saying gutting Medicare would be a "second term project."

While touting the "tremendous growth" resulting from the Trump-GOP tax law — which has actually done little for workers and retirees, but deepened the pockets of millionaires and billionaires — President Trump seemed to insinuate that the tax law has somehow created an opportunity for addressing Social Security and Medicare. This is absurd, especially when the tax law has allowed huge companies to pay zero in federal income taxes in 2018, is projected to explode budget deficits by $2 trillion over 10 years and has resulted in a slowing in the growth rate of tax revenue.

That's why the National Committee is counting on your support to battle against those in Washington, including President Trump, who want to reduce your earned benefits by chipping in a gift of $10 or $5 today! Your generous gift will help the National Committee ensure our grassroots advocacy efforts remain strong on your behalf.

With your support, we'll continue to make it clear to the President and members of Congress that Social Security and Medicare are earned benefits, they are not "entitlements" — and they should not be used as a piggy bank to pay for the Trump-GOP tax law or any other unpaid tax-and-borrowing scheme. So please make one urgent donation today to help the National Committee defend against any attack on the benefits that millions of older Americans rely on for a secure and healthy retirement. The fact is: the biggest threats to our economy are massive unpaid-for tax breaks for huge corporations, millionaires and billionaires — not Social Security and Medicare.

So deficit hawks should look at the Trump-GOP tax law before sharpening their knives for two of our nation's most successful and popular programs: Social Security and Medicare!

Sincerely,
Max Richtman Signature
