John, they need you now. View this email in a browser. [[link removed]] [[link removed]]John,

No animal should suffer or die in the freezing cold. But every winter, dogs are
chained outside in freezing temperatures with no warm shelter. That’s why I’m
urging you again to please make an emergency contribution to the Animal Legal Defense Fund.

It is only a matter of time before we receive a call about another dog like Zoe,
who was left chained outside in the cold. Emaciated and distressed, Zoe chewed
off her own leg. We can’t let another dog suffer and possibly die this winter. We must be ready
to answer these calls for help. Animals need us to stand up for them — and we can only help them if we work together.

Your gift now will help us answer every call we receive, fight to hold animal
abusers accountable for their crimes, and work for the legal protections animals
need and deserve.

Zoe was fortunate to have been rescued from the bitter cold. Her abuser is
facing cruelty charges for his actions, and Zoe has received the veterinary
treatment needed to recover from her injuries and is being cared for by a new
family. But many animals are found only after it’s too late.

John, you can send a message that animal abuse like
this will not be tolerated. Donate today to help stop this abuse, protect animals, and win justice for
animal victims!

Alone and shivering in the cold — some animals are running out of time…

John,

Winter is here and dogs are being left outside to freeze.
[[link removed]] Just weeks ago, a German Shepherd in New York named Zoe was left chained outside in the cold
with no food, no water, and only a plastic crate for shelter. Emaciated and distressed, Zoe chewed off her own leg.

This is animal cruelty, plain and simple — and it won’t be the only case this
winter. John, your urgent first membership gift now will
help us fight for justice for animals like Zoe who are neglected or abused
[[link removed]] — and protect others from being left to suffer or die in the cold.

Every year, the Animal Legal Defense Fund is contacted about neglect cases like
this — cases of animals being found chained up outside in freezing temperatures,
no food, water or warm shelter in sight. Many of them being found only after it
was too late — they’d already froze to death.

Your support means that we have the necessary resources in place to answer these
calls for help and ensure that abusers are held responsible.

When a dog named Oscar was left outside in Baltimore in 20-degree weather, his
owner, Selvin Gnanakkan, claimed the dog died of old age. Funds from our donors helped us pay for forensic work that proved Oscar
suffered and died of hypothermia — a victim of criminal neglect. This crucial evidence was used to successfully prosecute Gnanakkan, including a
three-year ban on owning animals.

Your contribution now will allow us to work with local police and prosecutors to
get neglected and abused animals the justice they deserve
[[link removed]] — and you’ll help us proactively alert communities to the fact that allowing animals to suffer in the cold is not only unconscionable, it’s a
crime.

FIGHT CRUELTY NOW
[[link removed]]When you make your first gift now, together we can protect innocent animals this
winter
[[link removed]] and hold animal abusers accountable for their crimes.

For the animals,

Stephen Wells
Executive DirectorP.S. Please help save animals from suffering in the cold.
[[link removed]] Your gift means better protections for animals, critical public awareness of
cold weather dangers, and the toughest penalties we can secure for those who
abuse animals. Thank you.
