Yesterday, Monday March 6th @ 10AM, Rep Donna Howard’s bill (HB300) was up for a public hearing. Mothers and others like us — we need to stay loud! Her bill exempts tampons, diapers, maternity clothing and breast pumps from taxes - all these things are not luxuries, they are necessities. We need you to call the members of the Ways and Means Committee and let them know you support HB300.

We are committed to fighting for Texas families…and We need YOU to “Fill the Lines” !

Tomorrow, Wednesday March 8th, call the members of the Ways and Means Committee and let them know you support HB300!

Tell them you support exempting from taxes:

  • Menstrual products

  • Diapers

  • Maternity clothing

  • Breast pumps

Here's sample language to use. Make the call positive and refrain from negative comments.

Hi, My name is (your name here) and I am a constituent in District (number). I am calling you because I am in support of House Bill 300, which had a public hearing this week.

I'm supportive because (pick whichever reasons you want. Here are some samples):

  • Taxing items like tampons, diapers and maternity clothes is a burden to working families. These are not luxury items, they're necessities

  • Pregnancy requires a second wardrobe for a limited amount of time at tremendous cost

  • Menstrual products are a medical necessity

  • A woman’s unique needs shouldn’t be treated as less important than a man’s.

So I am asking Representative (Committee member's name) to please support House Bill 300.

Our legislator Highlight of the day is Senator Roland Gutierrez, who has been fighting for the families in Uvalde and all Texas families!

MomForce Day at the Texas Capitol

Join us May 4th at the Texas Capitol to lobby for Texas families on important topics to all of us. We have a full program in the works.

We will be meeting legislators about the following topics: Public Education, Gun Safety, LGBTQ+, Women's Rights/Healthcare, Voting Rights, Environment, and Border/Immigration

Tentative schedule:

  • 8:00 -10:00 - Training

  • 10:00 -10:30 - Speakers

  • 10:30 - 11:00 - Meet with Legislators

  • 11:15 -12:15 - Lunch

  • 12:30 - Press event

  • 1:00 - 2:00 - Speakers

  • 2:00 - 3:00 - Meet with Legislators

  • 3:00 - 4:00 - Speakers
