John joined a bipartisan group of senators to introduce the Railway Safety Act of 2023.
John,
We’re still figuring out the environmental + health impacts of the rail disaster in East Palestine, OH (and another similar derailment in Darlington Township, PA) — but the Senate is already working on action.
This month, John Fetterman joined a bipartisan group of senators to introduce the Railway Safety Act of 2023. This bill would require more notice to state emergency officials when trains are carrying hazardous materials, mandate better crewing of freight trains, increase monitoring of potential safety issues, and increase penalties in order to hold rail carriers accountable.
Though this bill was introduced by 3 Democrats (including John 👋) and 3 Republicans, it’s still not guaranteed to pass. That’s why we’re coming to you to ask:
Can you add your name in support of the Railway Safety Act of 2023 to urge Congress to send this important bill to the President’s desk ASAP?
Add Your Name »
Right now, years of deregulation have given a few huge rail carriers way too much power, all while they cut corners and risk public safety to save a few bucks.
Fighting back in favor of everyday PA residents is what John is in the Senate to do. That’s why he joined on to this bill with 5 other senators to make progress for PA families’ safety + the safety of people around the country.
If you agree that we need to prevent future rail disasters, add your name and call on Congress to pass the Railway Safety Act of 2023.
Thank you!
