Tell Congress to restore the Voting Rights Act!SIGN THE PETITION [[link removed]]
John,
On March 7, 1965, thousands of people gathered in Selma, Alabama to march 54 miles to the state capital of Montgomery. They were marching so that Black Americans could exercise their constitutional right to vote — despite facing a system that wanted to make it impossible.
A wall of state troopers stopped them on their march, and attacked them with clubs, whips and rubber tubing wrapped in barbed wire.
Television cameras captured the entire assault and transformed the local protest into a national civil rights event that became known as “Bloody Sunday.”
These horrific events galvanized public opinion and mobilized Congress to pass the Voting Rights Act, which banned discriminatory voting practices.
But in 2013, the Supreme Court overturned crucial parts of the Voting Rights Act – making it easier than ever for states to pass voter suppression laws.
Without strong voting rights reforms, states will continue to disenfranchise voters, restrict access to the ballot box, and spread the Big Lie that the 2020 election was stolen.
That’s why today, on the anniversary of Bloody Sunday, we’re calling on all CREW supporters to sign our petition to Congress, urging them to restore the Voting Rights Act → [[link removed]]

Over the past few years, we’ve seen more and more laws passed that directly limit voting hours on election day, close precincts, restrict access to mail-in ballots, impose strict voter ID requirements, and draw racially-gerrymandered maps to decrease Black and Brown voter power.
As states across the country pass laws restricting access to the ballot box and supporters of former President Trump continue to spread lies about the 2020 election, protecting the right to vote and passing democracy reform has only become more essential.
Every citizen must be guaranteed an equal opportunity to vote. If you agree, please sign our petition today → [[link removed]]
