All we really have to say is WOW, John.

As we all know by now, Democrats won all three races in the special elections, but we have more great news. In all three PA House districts, turnout was nearly 50% of the 2020 presidential election.

All three Democratic candidates outperformed the results of every election in these districts since 2020, including beating the 2020 presidential election’s results by double digits. All that for special elections in the middle of February of an “off-year!”

In PA House District 35, the district with the most competitive baseline where we focused our efforts, Democrat Matt Gergely overperformed Biden by more than 30 points!

John, results like these don’t come out of nowhere — they come from the hard but crucial work that we need to be doing for every election. Will you pitch in $10 today to help us pull it off and repeat these results across the Commonwealth?

Many people were truly shocked by the turnout numbers for this election, but we cannot say the same. We have known for a long time that Pennsylvanians are ready to start electing candidates that best represent their communities. All they need is the support to do so.

Next up: this May’s municipal, judicial, and local primary elections and then November’s generals for the same races. This type of turnout is exactly what we want to see in every single election!

Together, we have proved it is possible, and now it is time to keep raising that turnout percentage above and beyond 50% for EVERY election. Will you pitch in $10 right now to help us continue expanding the electorate centering Black, Indigenous, and other people of color, immigrant communities and the youth?

The New Pennsylvania Project was founded in May 2021 to expand Pennsylvania’s electorate, so it reflects the Commonwealth’s demographically changing population. In the next four years, NPP will engage and empower young residents and those living in underrepresented immigrant communities and communities of color. We register communities to vote, provide civic education about the issues that matter in their neighborhoods, and mobilize Pennsylvanians to vote in every election.
