Team —
Last night, Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson gave the GOP response to Governor Cooper’s State of the State address. Rather than articulate the ways that North Carolina Republicans and Democrats can work together to deliver for our people, Robinson spouted far-right talking points about culture war issues, undermining our teachers and our kids’ education.
The fact is, Robinson is too extreme for North Carolina. But, he’s apparently not too extreme for the NC Republican Party.
By selecting Robinson to respond to the State of the State, Republicans are demonstrating that they are with him — that Robinson is the best representative of their Party on the issues. It’s also a signal that they’re backing Robinson’s candidacy for Governor in our race.
Mark Robinson is wrong for North Carolina. He’s too radical and too dangerous. We MUST keep him from gaining power. I need you to make your first donation immediately to help fight back.
The fact is, even before last night’s speech, Mark Robinson made it clear where he stood.
By his own statements, Robinson declares that women are not fit to lead; that LGBTQ+ people are “filth;” and that climate change is a lie. He threatened to shoot government officials who “get too big for their britches'' with his AR-15s. He denied the results of the 2020 election. He wants to ban abortion in every instance. The list goes on.
This is not what North Carolina deserves.
North Carolinians deserve elected leaders who will fight for them, not the culture wars. Who will work hard on the real issues facing our state — not play up conspiracy theories and political extremism.
We deserve leaders who will fight to defend and secure our most fundamental rights — not strip them from us.
We deserve leaders who know that our state is great, but that it can and should be better — and that the way we get there is by expanding opportunity for all, rather than by vilifying some.
Team, I will fight to create a state where all of us can achieve our fullest potential. I will fight to ensure that our freedoms to vote and to determine your own reproductive future are not denied in North Carolina. I will fight to improve public education, expand health care access, and defend our environment. And I will fight to protect our state from extremists like Mark Robinson who want to drag us backwards.
If you’re ready to fight with me, I need you to donate $25 or anything you can right now.
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
Thank you,
Josh Stein
