Hi John,
On this day, 10 years ago, President Obama signed the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) Reauthorization Act of 2013 after a lengthy legislative battle.
And last year, after more legislative battles, President Biden signed the VAWA Reauthorization Act of 2022 , strengthening this landmark bill to include:
– Expansion of jurisdiction for American Indian and Alaska Native tribes to protect their communities from domestic and sexual violence.
– Increasing support services in underserved communities.
– Improving the healthcare system's response to domestic violence and sexual assault.
Since its inception, VAWA has provided essential protections to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking. Because of this it has been fundamental in preventing and responding to gender-based violence wherever it occurs, and in all of its forms.
I have always fought to protect VAWA throughout my time in Congress and now in my role as Chair of the DCCC, I will be fighting to elect Democrats who share these same values across the country. Please show your support by making a contribution today so we can keep fighting together. >>>

Since VAWA first took effect, incidents of domestic violence and sexual assault have declined significantly . But we still need to fight for a future without gender-based violence, where survivors are supported, and where all people can live free from abuse.
Your support is what pushes us towards this vision, so if you are able, you can make a donation here. >>>
