Hi Friend, We’ve had an interesting couple of weeks at the Nevada Legislature. From canceled hearings to snow storms, just about everything has been thrown our way! That is one of the reasons we developed a guide for each week of the legislative session. You can see important hearings and bills in the body of this email so YOU know what is coming and how to participate this week!! Tuesday 3/7 1:00 PM - Senate Judiciary hearing on SB68 SB68 creates a ‘Critical Need Fund’ which would be used for certain purposes related to low-income housing. How you can help:
1:30 PM - Assembly Growth & Infrastructure hearing on AB195 AB195 requires DMV to waive certain fees, including late fees, for people who have been incarcerated. How you can help:
Wednesday 3/8 8:00 AM - Senate Commerce and Labor hearing on SB78 SB 78 will ensure that any fees that a landlord is charging will be communicated to the tenant and authorized by law. Additionally, SB78 limits application fees, will hold landlords accountable for returning security deposits in a timely manner, and it will increase the time period for No-Cause Evictions from 30 days to 60 days with an additional 30 days added for seniors and people with disabilities. 4:00 PM - Assembly Natural Resources hearings on AB84 and AB184 AB 84 requires the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to issue free permits to certain tribal members for state parks. AB184 sets requirements for zero emissions for specific vehicles. How you can help:
Thursday 3/9 1:00 PM - Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on SB172 SB172 authorizes a minor to consent to their healthcare provider for the prescribing, dispensing, or administering of contraceptive drugs or devices, without parental involvement How you can help:
1:30 PM - Assembly Growth & Infrastructure hearing on AB112 AB112 creates a Wildlife Crossings Account in the State General Fund. This will be used to help fund wildlife crossing in Nevada. How you can help:
