Hello John!

Happy Open Education Week! 📚

From 6-10 March, the world celebrates the power of open education to promote equity, access, and collaboration. Here at Creative Commons, we're excited to join in and recognize the amazing people and projects driving progress in this field.

As we reflect on our mission to accelerate #BetterSharing, we're reminded of the vital importance of open education as a means of promoting a more inclusive, just, and sustainable world.
Read our OE Week blog post to learn more about CC’s community-led efforts in open education and related areas.

Better Sharing in the Age of AI

🤖 Like the rest of the world, CC has been closely following the rise of generative artificial intelligence (AI) and trying to understand the many complex issues that come with these exciting new tools.

🔍 Our focus is on the intersection of copyright law and generative AI, and we're committed to ensuring that CC's strategy for #BetterSharing supports the development of this technology, while respecting the work of human creators and contributing to a better internet for all.

👥 To explore these issues further, we held CC community discussions about generative AI in February, and we're continuing to engage with diverse stakeholders to find helpful solutions in this area (keep your eyes peeled for future opportunities).

📝 From concerns related to AI inputs (training data) to the implications of AI outputs (works created by AI tools), we're exploring these issues through a series of blog posts by our team and guest contributors.

💬 Join the conversation and check out our latest blog posts on AI to stay informed and share your thoughts with us.

Eye Candy 🍭

Every month, we change our social media headers to a new CC-licensed image. Throughout 2023, we will be spotlighting a different CC-licensed illustration from our #BetterSharing collection on our social media headers and the CC blog. For March, we're excited to showcase “Better Sharing, Brighter Future” by David Espinosa for Creative Commons & Fine Acts licensed under CC BY-SA 4.0, which was inspired by a quote from Catherine Stihler, Creative Commons CEO.
