News from Rep. Chip Roy

Dear Mr. xxxxxx,

As I begin another busy week in Washington, I wanted to pass along my latest update on what I have been doing to fight for you, Texas’ 21st Congressional district, and our country as a whole:

Fighting endless federal spending

On Wednesday, I joined The Joe Pags Show to discuss the existential need to balance our budget and get on the path to fiscal sanity. It is time to reign in Washington’s reckless spending habits.

Fighting the crisis at our southern border

Last week, I joined my friend and colleague, Rep. Matt Gaetz, on his podcast, Firebrand, to break down what Congress needs to do about the border crisis. H.R. 29 provides a solution. This bill would end the disastrous catch-and-release policies that have long overwhelmed Border Patrol, allowing the U.S. to regain control of our own border while still allowing asylum seekers to make their claims.

On Monday, I also published an op-ed at National Review where I laid out the three approaches Congress can and must take to end this drawn out crisis at our Southern Border.

Here are some more news stories about what I’ve been up to lately:

Announcements:

Information on service academies:

Calling all interested high school upperclassmen interested in applying to the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Cadet Clay, from the 21st Congressional District will be in San Antonio during Spring Break to meet with motivated students in an informal setting, Monday, March 13 at Black Rifle Coffee on Hwy 281 from 9-10:30 am. Please email [email protected] for any questions.

IRS warning of new filing season scams:

The IRS is warning taxpayers of new scams involving W-2 forms. More information surrounding how taxpayers can be vigilant can be found here.

Updated passport processing times:

As of February 6th, 2023, Passport Services’ processing times will rise due to a seasonal increase in applications. The processing times will increase to 8-11 weeks for routine processing and 5-7 weeks for expedited processing, not including mail delivery service estimates.

The State Department is encouraging passport applications and renewals during the off-peak travel season in fall or winter because demand is lower and processing is faster. Please remember to check your passport expiration date and keep in mind some countries require your passport to be valid for six months after your visit. You can find information on how to apply or renew your passport here.

If you have any concerns that my office can help out with, please don’t hesitate to call or email through the “email me” portal on my website. If you feel so inclined, you can also just send an old-fashioned letter to my Washington or district offices.

If your friends, relatives, or neighbors would also like to sign up for these weekly updates, they can do so by sending my office a quick email or simply by signing up here. For more up-to-the-minute updates, you can follow my press team on Facebook and Twitter.

Sincerely,
