John, in the draw, I lost. There is no way to describe having to watch the insanity on display at CPAC other than losing. But it is part of the job, and I've got to tell you what happened to be the greatest hits of this year's convention.

To begin, first know that government officials, like Senator Ted Cruz, made it a point to advertise their personal side-gigs. A sitting Senator bragged about the amount of time he spends on his Podcast. Let that sink in. 

Of course, with the underlying theme of threats to families, there was the former ICE director under Trump who called migrant children "not children." The constant fear-mongering of the "left" coming after kids. A Fox News contributor insinuated that all homeless people dealing with substance abuse were using fentanyl and you could "see it was fentanyl" in a needle. 

It would not be a Conservative Conference, though, without the blatant irony of statements going right over their heads. Ralph Norman of South Carolina encouraged "scaring politicians" with "groups of people." Tommy Tuberville said the "left wants one gender." Candance Owens talked about the beauty of the Civil War era, claiming people were more intelligent in the past. And finally, Donald Trump made it point to say that Democrats wanted to "lynch him" for doing nothing wrong. 

These are, unfortunately, the majority of the notions in the MAGA GOP. These are the voices that are encouraged, celebrated, and win amongst Republican voters. And so, this is the noise we must cut through to reach middle America. These are the lies that we must spend time debunking, and these are the people we must not see regaining power.
