Dear John,

A few of our team, including our Director Bernadette Smyth, travelled over to Washington on Wednesday for the annual March for Life taking place today (Jan 24). They have attended a number of events including the MFL conference as well as prayer vigils outside the United States Supreme Court and a Planned Parenthood centre.

The pro-life people of Northern Ireland unite with the pro-life warriors in the US, and worldwide, so that together we can fight on to abolish abortion.

The march will revitalise us for the battle ahead in 2020 to repeal section 9!

Rebecca Kiessling is an American lawyer and the founder of pro-life group "Save the 1". Rebecca was conceived in rape. She says, "Did I deserve the death penalty for the crimes of my biological father?" She has also stated, "My crime was being conceived through rape. So next time you hear people talking about "exceptions" to abortion for rape, think of me. My name is Rebecca. I am that exception."

We cannot expect the violence of abortion to somehow be a path of healing for the violence and trauma that woman already endured. We need to think better and differently about victims of violence.

Punish the rapist - not the innocent third party, the preborn baby. There can be no exceptions for abortion!
