Dr. Fauci Funded Story to Disprove, Cover Up Covid Lab Leak Theory
National Review: Dr. Fauci commissioned a scientific study that purported to debunk the hypothesis that Covid escaped from a laboratory in Wuhan, China, according to emails released by House Republicans. The GOP-led House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic revealed that the nation’s leading epidemiologist in February 2020 directed and approved a paper titled, “The Proximal Origin of SARS-CoV-2,” which he later cited to cast the lab-leak theory as a myth ( National Review). Charlie Kirk: Wow! New emails uncovered by House Republicans expose a plot by Fauci to debunk the Wuhan lab leak theory. Ask yourself, why was Fauci so motivated to spend US taxpayer money to spread misinformation and cover up the truth about the origin of the virus ( Twitter)? Benny Johnson: Reporter who exposed Hunter Biden laptop drops BOMBSHELL trove of Fauci emails proving panicked lab leak cover-up ( Twitter).

Four Americans Taken While Traveling to Mexico for Medicine
Associated Press: Gunmen kidnapped four U.S. citizens who crossed into Mexico from Texas last week to buy medicine and got caught in a shootout that killed at least one Mexican citizen, U.S. and Mexican officials said Monday. Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said Monday that the four were going to buy medicine and ended up in the crossfire between two armed groups. U.S. Ambassador to Mexico Ken Salazar said in a statement Monday that the Americans were kidnapped at gunpoint and that an “innocent” Mexican citizen died in the attack. He did not offer any additional details, but said various U.S. justice agencies were working with their Mexican counterparts to recover the missing U.S. citizens. Authorities have provided no other details about who the victims were or where they were from ( Associated Press). NBC: It is not uncommon for Americans to cross the Southern Border for cheaper medication in Mexico ( NBC).

D.C. Councilman Attempts to Withdraw Crime Bill Destined to Fail in Senate
NBC: D.C. Council Chairman Phil Mendelson on Monday said he sent a letter to the Senate to withdraw changes to the city’s crime law ahead of a vote on a Republican-backed bill designed to undo them. Mendelson’s withdrawal comes after President Joe Biden told Senate Democrats at a closed-door lunch meeting last week that he won’t veto the measure and will allow Congress to overrule the D.C. Council, angering advocates for the city’s autonomy ( NBC). Washington Examiner: The Senate is still planning to vote on the Washington, D.C., criminal code despite efforts from the district council chairman to withdraw the bill to prevent its overhaul. “Not only does the statute not allow for a withdrawal of a transmission, but at this point the Senate Republican privileged motion will be acting on the House disapproval resolution, rather than the DC Council’s transmission to the Senate,” a Senate leadership aide said in a statement. “We still expect the vote to occur” ( Washington Examiner).

Antifa Breaks into Police Training Facility in Atlanta; 23 Charged with Domestic Terrorism
Daily Mail: Dramatic footage released by the Atlanta Police Department Sunday night showed the moment Antifa protesters dressed in all black broke into the construction site for a proposed police training facility. Nearly 150 rioters could be seen in the video posted to Facebook dressed in all black or camouflage and wearing ski masks entered the site of Atlanta’s future Public Safety Training Facility — dubbed Cop City by those who protest its development — and immediately set off fireworks ( Daily Mail). Daily Wire: Atlanta police posted a list of 23 individuals charged with domestic terrorism by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The list shows only two of these people are from Georgia, while the rest are from other states as well as France and Canada. People launched fireworks and threw large rocks, bricks, and Molotov cocktails during the clash, said police, and some construction equipment caught fire ( Daily Wire).

Poll Shows Americans Want Biden to Be Tougher with China
Daily Wire: A majority of American voters want President Joe Biden to take a stronger stance against China, a new poll shows. When asked how the Biden administration should address tensions between the United States and China, nearly 57.6% of respondents said the government should be “more aggressive” in leading a global coalition to contain China. Broken down by party affiliation, more than 76% of Republicans and nearly 40% of Democrats voiced support for an aggressive response. Among independents, 54% said Biden should take the aggressive stance ( Daily Wire). Gallup: Democrats are most likely to cite Russia as the nation’s greatest enemy, with 53% doing so. On the other hand, the vast majority of Republicans, 76%, cite China as the nation’s greatest adversary. Independents are most likely to name China, at 46%, with 32% naming Russia ( Gallup).

California Forcing Hollywood to be More Woke
Variety: Under a proposal from the governor’s office, productions that fail to meet their diversity goals will lose 4% of their tax credit allocation. The provision is part of a five-year extension of the state’s $330 million tax credit. Productions that receive the credit will be required to submit a diversity “workplan,” under which they must commit to hire a crew that is “broadly reflective” of the state’s demographics ( Variety). Bounding into Comics: In recent years, The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) has made it a point to produce an annual Studio Responsibility Index which grades the top eight major Hollywood studios based on the quantity, quality, and diversity of the LGBTQ representation in their films. In the organizations 10th annual report, all seven major film studios failed to receive a passing grade based on the ever-evolving standards of LGBTQ representation ( Bounding into Comics).

Minnesota Democrat Rants How White People Adopting Indian Children is Genocide
Fox News: A Minnesota Democrat in the state legislature is facing criticism after allegedly posting online that White Christians who adopt Native American children are contributing to “genocide.” The post from Keeler, who is Native American and an enrolled member of the Yankton Sioux Tribe, followed up on a post from her professional Facebook page with a similar sentiment that said “stripping” Native American children of their “identity” is a “form of genocide” ( Fox News). Republican Party of Minnesota: Attacks on Minnesotans’ race or religion have no place in our discourse. We condemn Rep. Keeler’s hateful and extremist rhetoric. Dems need to denounce this hateful speech immediately ( Twitter). Daily Mail: Keeler is the lead author of a bill that would incorporate provisions of the federal Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) into state law. The United States Supreme Court is expected to issue a ruling this term on a case that challenges the constitutionality of ICWA. ICWA recognizes ‘Tribal jurisdiction over decisions for their Indian children’ in state custody proceedings. It would also establish ‘minimum federal standards for the removal of Indian children from their families’ ( Daily Mail).

Speaker McCarthy to Meet with Taiwan’s President During His US Visit
Reuters: U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy plans to meet Taiwan’s President Tsai Ing-wen in the U.S. in coming weeks, a move that could replace the Republican Speaker’s anticipated but sensitive trip to the democratically governed island claimed by China. China views engagements between U.S. and Taiwanese officials as a breach of its sovereignty, a perceived slight sharpened by the fact that the Speaker of the House is second in line to the U.S. presidency ( Reuters). Financial Times: Another person familiar with the Tsai administration’s handling of the matter said renewed Chinese exercises around Taiwan could cause disruption to international shipping routes that would weigh on the global economy just as it emerges from the shadows of the pandemic. Taiwanese defense minister Chiu Kuo-cheng warned on Monday that the PLA was “looking for pretexts like foreign senior officials visiting or us conducting military exchanges with other countries” to take more assertive action. During the crisis last year, PLA ships and aircraft stopped short of entering Taiwan’s contiguous zone, a 24-nautical mile area off the coast ( Financial Times).

It says the group’s media chief was killed along with another al-Qaida member when a purported U.S. drone strike hit their residence in central Yemen on Feb. 26. The CIA declined to comment on the suspected attack. Another suspected U.S. strike on al-Qaida operatives in January reportedly killed three in Yemen ( Associated Press).

Gavin Newsom Says California Will Cut Business Ties with Companies Who Do Not Support Abortion
Washington Examiner: Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) said California will no longer do “business” with Walgreens, days after the pharmaceutical chain announced it does not intend to dispense a major abortion medication in some states where the pills remain legal. The Democratic governor, who has championed California as a sanctuary state for abortion, indicated California would be cutting ties with Walgreens and “any company that cowers to the extremists and puts women’s lives at risk.” It’s not clear how Newsom plans to cease business with Walgreens ( Washington Examiner). Gavin Newsom: California won’t be doing business with Walgreens — or any company that cowers to the extremists and puts women’s lives at risk. We’re done ( Twitter).
