Hello John,
Just a few minutes ago, I finished the State of the State address to North Carolina. You can watch it here if you missed seeing it live. [[link removed]]
If you weren’t able to watch, here’s the gist of my message:
Over and over throughout our state’s history, North Carolinians have been a people who overcame adversity, seized opportunity, and invested in the future. That culture of innovation and determination makes our state the very best place to live, learn, work, and raise a family — my wife Kristin and I should know.
It’s made North Carolina a global leader in the clean energy economy, endowed us with the enduring legacy of the first public university in the nation, and made us the number one state in the country for business in 2022.
The dedicated, determined, diverse people who make up our workforce are the foundation of that success, and my commitment to serve them — and all North Carolinians — is what drives our administration’s plans for the future.
The state of our state is brighter than ever. After emerging from challenging years stronger and more resilient, we’re looking ahead. We’ll work together to expand access to health care coverage, improve infrastructure, protect our people from gun violence, and continue leading the way on enacting pro-business solutions to our climate crisis.
I’m gratified that legislators have now agreed to expand Medicaid, which is the path forward for keeping North Carolinians healthy. We can and must pass it immediately, to cover more than 600,000 folks who need good quality health care. Our state can’t work if workers can’t get the medical care they need to stay on the job.
We also know that our future success depends upon giving the next generation the start they deserve. That’s why we’re investing in child care centers and public schools, and I hope that we can all come together to support every student from every walk of life.
That includes supporting students who are facing challenges with their mental health. The youth mental health crisis cannot be ignored, and I’ve already directed tens of millions of federal dollars into the effort to fight it. We’ll continue to do everything we can to set our children up for success.
John, I am glad to have you with me as a partner in our efforts to ensure the doors of opportunity are wide open in North Carolina, bursting with possibility for everyone. Tonight, I’m asking you to commit to a donation of just $10 to help me further our progress and invest in our future. Click here to join me >>> [[link removed]]
