It's Open Education Week!
This week, we're celebrating all of the work that we've done to make college more affordable through free open textbooks.
If you know any professors who use free textbooks, nominate them for an OER Oscars award now!
Â
This year, we're holding "OER Oscars" events to recognize faculty who are helping students save money by using open textbooks and other free resources.
For nearly 20 years, the Student PIRGS have led the way in exposing publisher’s practices that rip off students, championing cost-saving textbook options like used books and rental programs, and advocating for open textbooks as a long-term solution. Our new report, Open Textbooks: The Billion Dollar Solution, shows how open textbook grant programs have already saved students over $300 million!
Here are 5 ways you can help us celebrate Open Education Week:
-
Sign our petition for open textbooks if you haven't already
-
Nominate a professor for an "OER Oscars" textbook affordability award
-
Share our new report on social media and use hashtag #OEWeek
-

-
Check our organizing materials that you can use to be an advocate on your campus.
Open Education Week is an opportunity for actively sharing and learning about the latest achievements in Open Education worldwide. Open Education Week was launched in 2012 by Open Education Global as a collaborative, community-built open forum. Every year OE Week raises awareness and highlights innovative open education successes worldwide.
