Welcome to the January 2020 edition of the Southside newsletter, keeping you up to date with the latest developments in the Broadmarsh area and other major redevelopments in Nottingham.


New Central Library plans revealed

New internal images of the proposed new Central Library at Broadmarsh have been revealed by Nottingham City Council, with the public being offered the chance to offer their views on the plans. The plans and video flythrough for the library reveal the layout and design of the new library, showing?a bright and welcoming space with new areas to network and relax, along with reading, learning and fun spaces for children. Broadmarsh Car Park continues to expand

Construction of the new Broadmarsh Car Park from Canal Street

Over a third of the steel structure of the Car Park building has now been erected, with over 1,200 tonnes of steel used so far. Three crews are working on the site now to build the Car Park in sections, with the length of the structure along Collin Street almost completed. Construction of the steel will continue over the next few months, with cladding of the building expected to begin at the Library corner of Collin Street and Carrington Street over the next month or so.

Demolition works continue at intu Broadmarsh, with large sections of the building along Collin Street now demolished. A second tower crane will arrive in Spring to coincide with the completion of demolition, and the start of construction of the new retail and leisure destination.?


Thriving private sector investment in Southside

Cranes in the air across Southside area of Nottingham also include a number of other key private sector developments which are now gathering pace in the city.?Developments have either already started or are in the pipeline for 2020, where ?2 billion of redevelopment over a 0.5 square mile area are coming forward to create a better area to work, live, learn and play. The Island Site, heritage restoration work, new apartment blocks and new offices are all in development with more to come throughout the year.
