Trans people shouldn't have to fight just to be themselves. Period.

ACLU Supporter –

In state legislature after state legislature this year, politicians have continued to come after trans communities – especially trans youth – and their families by introducing harmful bills that threaten their health, safety, and lives.

Trans people should not have to fight just to be themselves. Period.

And that's why we at the ACLU are here fighting back for – and alongside – trans people and their loved ones in all 50 states, D.C., and Puerto Rico.

In fact, here are some of the many states where our teams are pushing back to put a stop to these harmful anti-trans bills:

* Tennessee: Just last Thursday, Governor Bill Lee signed into law SB 1 in Tennessee, which will ban the only evidence-based care for gender dysphoria for trans people under 18 – ignoring the warnings of trans kids, their families, and their medical providers about the potential harms of these bills. Make no mistake: The ACLU and ACLU of Tennessee promise the trans youth of the state that we will bring swift legal action against these proposed restrictions.

* Arkansas: In Arkansas, SB 270 just passed the Senate Judiciary Committee. This anti-trans bathroom bill would criminalize trans people using the restroom and is the most extreme ban of its kind in the United States right now. Should this bill continue moving forward, the ACLU and ACLU of Arkansas are prepared to defend the rights and dignity of transgender youth with every tool available.

* Oklahoma: Oklahoma lawmakers have proposed at least 15 bills seeking to bar transgender people, particularly those under 18, from accessing essential and often life-saving forms of gender-affirming care. The ACLU, ACLU of Oklahoma, and Lambda Legal promise swift legal action should any of these harmful restrictions be signed into law.

ACLU Supporter – make no mistake, if you come after trans rights, we will fight back. Not only our team of expert attorneys, advocates, and organizers – but our dedicated ACLU community.

So thank you for being with us in the fight and we will continue to keep you updated on our work to protect trans justice and all civil liberties.

Thanks for staying informed,
