Table of Contents BOB LINN National Health Reflected in its Walls LAST WEEK Marijuana's Devastation Governor Frank Keating AFTER SPRING BREAK Dr. Li & Ryan Walters BOB LINN National Health Reflected in its Walls In Proverbs 25:28, King Solomon spoke of a city without walls as synonymous to a man with no self-control. His precept describes the fragmentation of 21st century American identity displayed in the conduct we witness that is untethered to any particular ethical or teleological foundation. Solomon spoke of the fate of the church when it accommodates secularism and is no longer supplying the culture with the clarity of divine revelation. This decline is visible as the church is increasingly spawned by the impurities and confusion of a decadent culture. (Proverbs 25:26) It is a theme Solomon notes early on in this chapter when he speaks of the divine cleansing of the church as a preamble to the effective role of the church in the fulfillment of its divine calling. (Proverbs 25:4) Politically speaking, Solomon made clear that the strength of a government depends upon the purity and strength of godly people who serve at the highest levels. He tells us of the tragic impact wickedness has when allowed to rise to leadership. (Proverbs 25:5) Our speaker this week will speak of the broken walls of our American republic. The U.S. border is a testament to the irreproachable prognostication of Solomon whose wisdom tells us that the decimated walls of our borders are a reflection of the tragic decline of the American cultural landscape. It reflects a church that is tolerant of a wayward culture because of the silence of its pulpits who no longer are the mouthpiece of God. America’s tragic decline has cost us our national identity. From my comments on Monday, January 30, 2023 We are a nation without clarity of vision. Whether or not we defend our national borders and who is allowed entry rests upon our national identity. When Italian intellectual, Marcello Pera, wrote his book, Why We Should All Call Ourselves Christians, he stated this: Certainly, the term ‘identity’ has a moral connotation. It is like ‘nation’, which was defined by Ernest Renan as ‘a soul, a spiritual principle.’ Sharing an identity with others means sharing with them the same ideal sense of belonging. It means feeling the ties of familiarity, solidarity, destiny, obligation, and most especially, love and respect for one’s own history, tradition, and land. Identity means identifying one’s self but also distinguishing oneself. China’s Cultural Revolution has taken seed in America and removed from public sight the soul of America’s origins and covered it with the shroud of secularity. The evisceration of Christianity from the education of America’s youth has brought us to the brink of a collapse of our spiritual, moral, and cultural identity. In 1983, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn delivered his Templeton Award Lecture in Guildhall in London. It is one of the major literary prizes in the world eclipsing the Nobel Prize in its financial award. Solzhenitsyn noted the great Russian novelist, Dostoevsky. He said: It was Dostoevsky, once again, who drew from the French Revolution and its seething hatred of the Church the lesson that ‘revolution must begin with Atheism.’ That is absolutely true. But the world has never before known a godlessness as organized, militarized, and tenaciously malevolent as that practiced by Marxism. Within the philosophical system of Marx and Lenin, and at the heart of their psychology, hatred of God is the principle driving force, more fundamental than all their political and economic pretensions. Militant atheism is not merely incidental or marginal to Communist policy; it is not a side effect, but the central pivot. To achieve its diabolical ends, Communism needs to control a population devoid of religious and national feeling, and this entails the destruction of faith and nationhood.” Find the complete speech at the Templeton Prize website here. Purchase the Solzhenitsyn Reader here. The thought leader of the communist revolutions of the 20th century in Russia, China, Cuba and elsewhere was Karl Marx. It is well established but not well known that the literary hero of Karl Marx was Goethe’s Mephistopheles, Satan’s emissary, who grants the novel’s protagonist, Faust, a limited number of years of earthly powers in exchange for his eternal soul. So taken with Mephistopheles was Marx that he memorized entire sections of his lines from Goethe’s novel. In his book, The Devil and Karl Marx, Dr. Paul Kengor states of Marx that “Goethe’s Faust was his Bible.” Marx favorite Mephistopheles line was “Everything that exists deserves to perish.” It would have made an appropriate moniker for his tombstone. The tens of millions of men, women, and children who, in the 20th century, were tortured, raped, dismembered, and murdered by their Marxist leaders are a testimony to the evil of the fundamental essence of the cultural revolution sweeping Americas elementary schools, high schools, and universities. A sense of urgency often helps readers take an action, so think about inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining"! Michael Walsh pulled no punches in his book, The Devil's Pleasure Palace. After quoting a section of Marx who eviscerates Christianity with great passion, Walsh states, “These are the ravings of a dangerous idiot.” Not wanting to miss any connections with what is facing the American landscape today, he continues: At root, and as with any criminal organization, the primary goal of the Frankfurt School and its Critical Theory adherents, was the attainment and retention of power in order to amass wealth. Such is the nature of the forces which have invaded the American classroom for more than a generation. It is quite certain we are facing the enemy of our children. This secularism demands a response. We must all play our part in standing our ground against those forces who want Christianity out of the public marketplace of ideas and culture. Earlier, I quoted from chapter two of Marcello Pero's book. He went on to state that, for Europe, the solution was a return to their Christian moorings. He said: Following the Second World War, the European Community was made up of only six countries. Christianity was their soul of reference. On March 19, 1958, addressing the first European Parliament, Robert Schuman, architect and driving force of the first Community, stated, "All the countries of Europe are permeated by Christian civilization. It is the soul of Europe which must be restored to it." De Gasperi echoed such sentiments when he asked, "How can we conceive of Europe without Christianity?" Adenauer wrote, "We considered the unification of Europe as the goal of our foreign policy because it was the only way possible to affirm and safeguard our Western, Christian civilization against the fury of totalitarianism.” Oklahoma can lead the way to a restoration of the heart and soul of America by articulating the foundational issues of our culture without flinching before the secularists. We must stand against the insurgents who have infiltrated our Christian nation. These enemies of Christian civilization are bent on reproducing in our generation what Lenin, Stalin, Castro, Mao and a host of others have done on other continents as they have turned government into the criminal organizations of which Michael Walsh just spoke. In the end, we have to come to grips with the ultimate issues of a people, a society, and a nation. Our founders were confessing Christians who crafted our founding documents that yielded life, liberty, and the opportunity for all men to pursue happiness on the earth. “The highest glory of the American Revolution was this, it connected in one indissoluble bond, principles of civil government with the principles of Christianity.” ~John Quincy Adams. Do borders and immigration policy matter? Only in defining our heart and soul will we know the answer. Come and join the movement this Wednesday as we seek to make Oklahoma the spiritual and cultural leader in solving the problems facing the nation. A few thousand of you read this newsletter each week. I would challenge you to connect with us through our meetings, or through communicating by email and begin the process of getting involved in bolstering the Christian cultural foundations of Oklahoma that we may cast a light on our nation, the last bastion of freedom in the world. Christianity is the very foundation of human thought. It is the foundation of free & prosperous societies. We are in desperate need of returning our nation and our state to Biblical foundations.
