Walls on Another Border: The Dominican Republic confronts Haitian illegal immigration ([link removed])
By Chuck Holton, March 1, 2023
Excerpt: For its part, the Dominican Republic sees itself as yet another victim of Biden’s open-border policies. Anyone who can leave Haiti is leaving, and the DR is simply the first step for many in a long journey to the United States. So after consultations with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the DR continues to step up its program of rounding up illegal Haitians and sending them back to their home country, and is expanding the wall project to deter illegal crossings.

Biden caved to advocates, border deluge ensued ([link removed])
By Todd Bensman
Washington Times, February 28, 2023
Book excerpt: Handing over border security to the most fervent theologians of a fringe political religion immediately led to lasting, severe consequences for the nation. What they wanted and fought for with the greatest fervor was a return of the American asylum system set at its widest possible aperture. Why? Because they well knew that the American asylum system is the main ingredient for mass migration.

Fake Families ([link removed])
By Todd Bensman
Townhall, February 28, 2023
Book excerpt: Policies that created special rights for people who cross the border with children naturally elevated the value of children among those without special rights. In that environment, children became a rare-earth commodity for barter, sale, rent, or trade.

Where Have All the Unaccompanied Alien Children Gone? ([link removed])
By Andrew R. Arthur
Excerpt: If Congress really wants to “think of the children!”, it should dive deeply into how the Biden administration is handling UACs, and in particular whether it’s placing the thousands of alien children apprehended by DHS at the Southwest border per month into removal proceedings. Because hundreds of thousands of them seem to be missing from DOJ’s stats.

Good News for EB-5 Critics: Regional Centers to Pay for an ‘Integrity Fund’ ([link removed])
By David North
Excerpt: Whatever the money is used for, it will come from the regional centers, not U.S. taxpayers, and it will come from adding to the many other fees the centers must pay, all of which may discourage interest in the program.
Feigned Immigration Enforcement ([link removed])
By George Fishman
Excerpt: The Biden administration's proposed rule titled “Circumvention of Lawful Pathways” converts the Trump administration’s third-country transit asylum bar into a “rebuttable presumption” of ineligibility, thereby allowing the administration to exempt huge segments of the population of aliens who would choose to enter the U.S. illegally.

DHS Hits the 20-Year Mark ([link removed])
By Andrew R. Arthur
Excerpt: A failure to enforce the immigration laws led to the creation of the Department of Homeland Security, but it’s difficult, two decades on, to think of it as much more than a noble, but failed, experiment.
