Discussing the threats posed by China at the first Select Committee hearing

This week, the House Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party held our first hearing on the threats posed by the CCP. The Chinese Communist Party works daily to undermine our economic and national security. On the Select Committee on China, we will work to investigate and expose the threat posed by the CCP, review our trade priorities in the Indo-Pacific, and bolster our supply chains.

Highlighting trade and the Farm Bill with the Illinois Soybean Association

I met with the Illinois Soybean Association during their trip to DC this. Illinois is our nation’s leader in soybean production and I am proud to represent one of the largest soy producing districts in the country. We had a good discussion about our trade agenda and upcoming Farm Bill negotiations.

Announcing $2 million federal funding in Peoria Heights

I joined elected officials, business owners, and residents in the Village of Peoria Heights with Mayor Phelan this week to highlight funding our office helped secure through the annual Appropriations process. The $2 million in funding will support improvements along Prospect Road. These improvements will enhance access, improve public safety, and bolster economic development.

Touring the Northern IL Food Bank in Rockford

Great to be at the Northern Illinois Food Bank this week in Rockford to visit their facility and learn about their programs, which serve over 250,000 meals per day. As Chair of the Subcommittee on Work and Welfare, I’ll continue to prioritize policies that support those in need and help folks get into the workforce. Meeting with city officials to discuss economic development in our region

In Rockford, with a productive meeting with Therese Thill of the Rockford Area Economic Development Council! Rockford’s economy is a crucial part of the 16th District. On the Ways & Means Committee, I will continue to advocate for pro-growth policies that allow small biz to thrive.
