In 2018, you knocked on millions of doors, you made countless phone calls, and you donated to campaigns across the country. Because of your hard work, Democrats took back the House with the most diverse group of members in history: progressive people of color, like Andy Kim and TJ Cox, and strong allies, like Katie Porter, flipped Republican seats and brought critical new voices to Congress.
And after Trump AGAIN tried to rig the presidential elections, this time with a quid pro quo with Ukraine, our representatives took their responsibilities seriously and impeached him.
The stakes of an election have never been higher. In 2020, either we will keep the House, take back the Senate, and remove Trump from office (barring his conviction in the Senate). Or, we’ll have four more years of an increasingly unhinged Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell leading the Senate.
Freed from being accountable to the American people, President Trump in his second term could make separating immigrant families and putting kids in cages look tame. He’ll build his wall, ban refugees from entering America, and nominate more justices like Brett Kavanaugh who could serve 40 years or more on the Supreme Court.
ASPIRE is doing everything we can to stop Trump, McConnell, and the rest of the racist GOP. It’s harder for women and candidates of color to get traditional institutional support for their campaigns or be taken as seriously by the media as they deserve. So we’ve endorsed 19 progressive House and Senate candidates, and we’re supporting their campaigns early in order to make sure they win in November.
But Trump and the RNC raked in almost $500 million in 2019 for Trump's re-election. Facebook’s senior vice president said Trump in 2016 “ran the single best digital ad campaign I’ve ever seen from any advertiser.” And after the House caught Trump abusing his power to get Ukraine to manufacture dirt on his political opponent, Russian hackers stepped in to finish the job.
And, right now, we’re falling VERY short of our January fundraising goals.
