Friends,
The 2023 legislative session has passed the halfway mark, with Democrats still pushing ridiculous
pro-criminal and higher-tax policies. And as always, we here at Shift WA have you covered with some of this week’s most read stories and
insights into what is going on in your own political backyard! Read on…
This week’s Newsmaker Interview… GOP Representative Carolyn Eslick (39th LD)
joined us this week to discuss her innovative “Student First” legislation to give parents “the resources they need to help their
children achieve their dreams.” She also explained why she opposes the Democrats’ irresponsible legislation which will reduce student
instruction time by four hours a week. Finally, Representative Eslick gave us her thoughts on improving public safety in the state, including
repealing the Democrats’ disastrous 2021 restrictions on police pursuits which nearly every law enforcement agency in the state says is the
cause for the state’s high crime rate. Read

story… Democrats in Olympia are attempting to hide what they are scheming to do to us behind
closed doors by trying to illegally circumvent government transparency regulations. It appears that Democrats did not learn their lesson after the
shellacking they experienced at the hands of the press when they attempted to pass legislation (Senate Bill 6617) exempting themselves from the prying

discovered “Legislative privilege” to redact and hide legislative records from the public and the press. Read more.

Department office from Olympia to Spokane – it was so taxpayers could help finance her preparations for yet another political campaign, which
she announced last week. The former state legislator (20 years) and congressional wannabe (lost in 2018) wasted little time before launching another
effort to secure a taxpayer-funded paycheck. As the folks at Spokane’s Good Government Alliance pointed out, “Brown may have a Spokane
address, but her beliefs on critical issues make it clear that she really only prioritizes the parts of Washington State that can be viewed from the
top of the Space Needle.” (KHQ, Spokane Good Government Alliance). Read more.

The Washington State Ferries can always count on other state transit agencies to make it look good by comparison, as with
the latest news that the agency may be able to return service to Sidney, British Columbia, by 2030, or sometime after the second Biden (or Trump)
term. But the ferry service may be able to return the Bremerton-Seattle run to full service after Labor Day – no need to rush for the busy
summer season. Good thing all those ferry employees are vaccinated. (The News Tribune) Read more.
