Dear Friend, Florida’s legislative session begins this week, and we’re bracing for another round of Republican attacks on our reproductive freedom.
We know the Florida GOP will not stop at a 15-week ban, and Gov. DeSantis has already signaled he would sign a 6-week ban. With his impending Presidential campaign, the pressure is mounting for him to deliver among the most restrictive abortion laws in the country. It’s simply horrifying.
But our Democratic pro-choice women legislators are already fighting back. Two Ruth’s List alumni, Senator Lori Berman and Representative Rita Harris, have filed the Reproductive Health Care Protection Act, which guarantees a person’s right to access reproductive health care in Florida and prohibits any individual or government entity from denying a citizen’s fundamental rights.

This is going to be a tough session, and we’ll be working closely with our partners in the Florida reproductive rights movement to do everything we can to fight back.
