Hearing from You is My Priority Dear John, While the 8th congressional district is larger in area than many states along the Eastern seaboard, it is a priority of mine to attend as many BPOU conventions as I can over the weekends so I can visit and hear from as many of you as I can. Last weekend, I was pleased to spend time at several conventions including Chisago County’s in North Branch, Pine County’s in Hinckley, and Carlton County’s meeting as well. It was great to see so many friendly and familiar faces. As I shared with them, I am actively engaged and fighting hard in Washington to combat inflation and skyrocketing energy prices by: - Restoring American energy and mineral dominance
- Strengthening border security
- Standing with law enforcement
- Defending Life
- Protecting our 2nd Amendment rights, and
- Rejecting the woke indoctrination that is hijacking our government and our schools
I look forward to visiting with more of you at BPOU conventions in March! |
Fighting for Border Security – to our North and South Did you know that Minnesota shares a 547-mile border with the Canadian provinces of Manitoba and Ontario? While I’m sure you know we had a northern border with Canada, it’s shocking to many that it’s more than 500 miles across. While Joe Biden’s borderless society on our southern border created humanitarian and national security crises, we need to crack down on drug traffickers and illegal activity on our northern border as well. That’s why I joined the Northern Border Security caucus this week where we will raise awareness on the importance of our northern border and the need to ensure law and order to the north. Our nation is suffering from a drug overdose crisis and one significant way to combat this problem is securing our borders – not just to the south, but to our north as well. Read more here. |
Criminal Justice System is Failing Minnesota As a 23-year police officer, husband, and father, it pains me to hear victims’ stories of the skyrocketing crime in the Twin Cities and communities across Minnesota. For too long, the state of Minnesota’s judges and prosecuting attorneys are being too lenient on criminals. I agree with the writer of this Star Tribune op-ed, who said: “We need the legal system to have the capacity to investigate violent crimes when they happen so that young people are both held accountable and get the support and treatment they need to turn their lives around, becoming assets to our community and not detriments.” We also need to stand with our law enforcement and ensure they have the resources need to keep our communities safe. Restoring America’s Critical Mineral Dominance In my new role as chair of the House Natural Resource’s Energy & Minerals committee, I am proud to champion Minnesota’s natural resources and continue fighting to restore America’s energy and mineral dominance. While the Biden administration is promoting an extreme, anti-jobs, anti-American energy agenda, I am proud to help lead efforts in Congress to significantly reform the antiquated permitting process that is needlessly delaying significant projects that could help reduce our critical mineral and energy dependence on foreign adversaries. Our nation’s security depends on this. Read more here. As always, don’t hesitate to send me an e-mail at [email protected]. Have a great weekend! |
