Kevin McCarthy used his authority as Speaker to give security footage of the January 6, 2021 insurrection to Tucker Carlson. Now, McCarthy's allies are circling the wagons and leaving zero doubt that they're the party of conspiracy theories and extremism.

A violent mob broke into the Capitol on January 6, 2021. They assaulted and injured dozens of police officers. They were prepared to take extreme measures to overturn the results of a free and fair election.

McCarthy gave footage of this to Tucker Carlson (a mouthpiece for blatant racism and unfounded conspiracy theories) in order to help the MAGA right create a false counter-narrative.

It's absolutely disgraceful that a U.S. Speaker of the House would use his power for something like this — and McCarthy has reinforced why his party absolutely cannot be entrusted with majorities.
