Welcome to Laura Reacts to the News! This is where you will get my take on various national news stories each week. The plan is to run this at the beginning and end of the week. At the beginning of the week, I will discuss stories that I believe aren’t getting enough attention from the fake news mainstream media, and at the end, I will post more of a recap of stories that I believe either made up the news cycle for the week, or need further attention and exposure.
DeSantis everywhere all at once (but not CPAC)

Summary: What’s not included in the list is an appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference being held later this week in the Washington D.C. area. Former President Donald Trump, former ambassador Nikki Haley and other Florida Republicans such as Sen. Rick Scott are scheduled to appear at the event.
My Take: It’s no secret that Ron DeSantis is running for President in 2024. From carefully coordinated political stunts, to endorsements from prominent members of the Swamp, and a constant barrage of astroturfed support, media appearances, and fake national polls from controlled opposition institutions like Rupert Murdoch’s Fox News, the evidence that he’s running is everywhere. DeSantis, who wouldn’t even have become Governor of Florida if it wasn’t for President Trump saving his failing 2018 campaign against Andrew Gillum, refuses to give a concrete and firm answer as to whether or not he’s running in 2024. It’s quite obvious that he plans on repaying Trump’s years of loyalty and support with a direct challenge to his 2024 re-election campaign. DeSantis is no different than the rest of the GOP establishment that HATED Trump back in 2016 and then reluctantly embraced MAGA only for the sake of political opportunism.
The polls, no matter how hard the media and GOP establishment try to fudge them, reflect the general attitudes of the GOP base. No matter how hard they try, DeSantis will never inspire people quite like President Trump has.
And DeSantis knows this. That’s why he skipped CPAC this year. DeSantis is afraid of both President Trump, and Trump supporters, and he doesn’t have the courage to face Trump on the campaign trail, or even at the same event! President Donald Trump delivered a riveting two hour speech at CPAC on Saturday evening, and the crowd loved every minute of it. In addition to constant cheers and applause during his speech, President Trump overwhelmingly won the CPAC straw poll. Trump received 60% support from attendees, while DeSantis came in at 20% for the final tally of the CPAC straw poll.
Other 2024 GOP candidates for President like Nikki Haley, and Vivek Ramaswamy showed up to CPAC this year to make the case for their Presidential campaigns, which further highlights how DeSantis was too cowardly to do the same. DeSantis made time to go on a national book tour and attend out of state fundraisers in Texas and California this weekend while CPAC is taking place, so he certainly can’t say he was “too busy” doing his job as Governor of Florida to attend CPAC.
It seems that in their mad rush to get rid of President Trump, the RINO elites may have picked the wrong guy for the job. DeSantis, for his part, has never been good at dealing with confrontations. In fact, if you pay close attention to his movements and mannerisms when he’s on stage, you’ll see that he’s nothing more than a dollar store ripoff of Donald Trump with many awkward social ticks and no original ideas of his own.
I cannot say for sure what goes on in DeSantis’s head, but when his staff told security guards at his book signing at the Leesburg Mall outside of Books-A-Million to ban anyone wearing MAGA gear on Tuesday, and then called the cops on me and a group of seniors who were rallying in support of President Trump outside the book signing, it confirmed that he’s paranoid, and above all else, TERRIFIED of Donald Trump. DeSantis is afraid of his own constituents asking him questions about his future political ambitions!
Of course, the usual retort from the GOP when we get tired of the lies and corruption from disloyal turncoats like Ron DeSantis is, “don’t attack other Republicans!” or my personal favorite, “You are obsessed/crazy and you a conspiracy theorist”. Yet, these same hypocrites have no problem blatantly and openly attacking President Trump and calling the police on his supporters.

Zelensky: “US Will Have to Send Sons and Daughters to War”

Summary: Speaking at a press conference on Feb. 24, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky threatened that “the US will have to send their sons and daughters to war” if more aid for his country were not forthcoming.
My Take:
As if stealing $120 BILLION of our taxpayer money to fund his proxy war with Russia and his wife’s extravagant shopping sprees in Paris wasn’t enough, Ukraine’s Zelensky has now resorted to open threats of World War 3 if the US doesn’t continue to fund his corrupt country. Not only does he want billions of dollars of your tax payer money, but he now wants you to sacrifice the lives of your sons and daughters so they can die overseas fighting a proxy war that has no relevance to the United States.
Here’s an idea? How about Ukraine sacrifices their own soldiers for war and starts to pay for the consequences of their own antagonistic behavior in conjunction with NATO instead of relying on the United States to be Ukraine’s sugar daddy?
The pro-Ukraine propaganda couldn’t be more obvious. If Ukraine is truly“winning” in their war with Russia as the media continues to falsely claim, then why is the United States still being pestered with additional requests for funding, military equipment, and troops on the ground?
It’s time for Ukraine to surrender to Russia. Perhaps Zelensky should have thought twice before recklessly pushing for NATO membership.
With regards to Ukraine, all I have to say is: Not our dog. Not our fleas!
New bill to combat antisemitism would make certain hate crimes 3rd-degree felonies

Summary: The aim of the bill is to define certain antisemitic acts as hate crimes and increase penalties for these hate crimes to the level of a felony.
My Take:
As a Jewish woman, conservative free speech activist and free speech absolutist, I cannot in good faith support this newly introduced Florida bill, officially known as “HB 269: Public Nuisances”. The bill, which was proposed by Republican Florida Rep. Mike Caruso, R-Delray Beach, was filed in January 2023, and has been co-sponsored by Rep. Vicki Lopez, R-Miami, and several others including Rep. Randy Fine, R-Brevard County. The bill itself is not only inherently unconstitutional, but it creates a slippery slope for free speech in that it allows for politicians to define what “hate crimes” are. “Hate” is subjective, and the US Supreme Court has already ruled that there is no such thing as “Hate speech”. The right to peacefully assemble is protected under the First Amendment, and that includes both verbal and printed/ transcribed speech that may be deemed “Offensive”, “racist”, “Hateful”, “Bigoted”, and “anti-Semitic”. It is unconstitutional to create and sign legislation into law that would criminalize constitutionally protected speech.
The bill would make speech “hate crimes” a third degree felony in Florida, punishable with a minimum 5 year prion sentence.
The bill, HB 269: Public Nuisances, makes it a felony and “hate crime” if a person:
Willfully follows, harasses or interferes with someone based on the "person's wearing of religious-based garments or garments commonly associated with a particular religious or ethnic group or any other indicia of any religious or ethnic heritage"
Willfully and maliciously defaces, injures or damages a religious cemetery or any gravesite, marker, memorial, plaque, statue, museum, school, community center, or other public or private property that has any indicia of any religious or ethnic heritage (this includes "any physical manifestations of anti-Semitism...such as a swastika")
"Projects an image outdoors onto a publicly or privately owned building or other property" without the owner's written consent if the image evidences religious or ethnic animus
Willfully interrupts or disturbs "any school or any assembly of people met for the worship of God, any assembly of people for the purpose of acknowledging the death of an individual, or for any other lawful purpose" with religious or ethnic animus
Unless physical acts of violence take place with these actions, most of the above listed acts (with the exception of vandalism and defacing property) are protected under the First Amendment of the US Constitution. Protest could be described as a “disruption”, and protest is protected by the First Amendment. All Floridians should be outraged that elected Florida representatives are trying to criminalize speech and take it upon themselves to decide what is and isn’t a “hate crime”. Given that “hate” is subjective, if passed and signed into law by Governor DeSantis, this bill can and will be exploited and weaponized by politicians to go after their detractors.
For example, if you believe in science and state that there are only two genders and you distribute flyers that state the fact that there are only two genders, what would happen if a Democrat representative in Florida accused you of committing a hate crime against the trans community? Under this law, you could be charged with a felony and sent to prison for 5 years or more.
HB 269: Public Nuisances MUST be opposed. It’s distressing to see this bill has been drafted and supported by REPUBLICAN members of the Florida legislature.
Who needs pro-censorship Democrats when you have Republicans who are just as eager to violate free speech and the US Constitution?
'National Day of Hate' was ADL hoax

My Take:
Once again, the Left is making up random holidays and hate crime hoaxes to satisfy their perpetual victimhood complex.
Perhaps they ought to look in the mirror, because everyday is #NationalDayOfHate for groups like the ADL who spend their time trying to censor, silence, and defame those they dislike.

World Health Organization pushes for global vaccine passports

Summary: As governments around the world wind down their vaccine passport programs, the unelected World Health Organization (WHO) is attempting to make this Covid-era surveillance tech permanent and global.
My Take:
Is there anything creepier than the thought of knowing global elites and unelected officials who have zero medical expertise want you to be surveilled according to your vaccination status? No, this is not a conspiracy theory! This is really happening.
Earlier this week, the World Health Organization laid out its plans to create and impose global vaccine passports in a series of proposed amendments for the International Health Regulations (IHR) (2005), which are legally bound amendments used by WHO to impose various protocols on 196 countries whenever WHO declares global health emergencies. The Biden administration has been quietly pushing to create more amendments, essentially handing over America’s health freedom and medical sovereignty to an international organization of unelected officials who are striving to create a one world order and singular global response to pandemics.
If Joe Biden and WHO could have their way, there would be a mandatory digital vaccine passport which would enable WHO to carry out global digital contact tracing.
We saw how draconian vaccine passports were during the COVID lockdown. In countries and states where vaccine passports were mandated, citizens were required to scan or show their vaccine passports in order to gain access to grocery stores, malls, restaurants, sporting events, and even travel!
Vaccine passports are not only unconstitutional, but they are anti-freedom, a violation of privacy and a threat to civil liberties.
General Michael Flynn Sues DOJ, FBI and US Government for $50 Million for Malicious Persecution and Gross Abuse of Power

General Flynn, a staunch Trump ally and confidante, was forced to resign in 2017 following screaming reports that he had lied regarding conversations with Sergey Kislyak, a Russian diplomat. This was while the Democrat Party and highest levels of US intelligence concocted an attempted coup to take down the sitting President based on what they knew was fraudulent accusations that Trump was Vladimir Putin’s stooge. General Michael Flynn was collateral damage. They had to remove him to get to Trump.
My Take:
My dear friend General Michael Flynn has been the victim and target of years of political persecution at the hands of the crooked FBI and DOJ, both of which have been weaponized against American patriots as a modern day Gestapo force for the Democrat Party. I hope General Flynn is successful in his lawsuit and fight for justice against those who tried to frame him as part of their long term goal of removing President Trump from office, but sadly, we live in a Banana Republic with a two tiered justice system, and I have little faith, little hope, and zero trust in our corrupt justice system.
Perhaps the Department of Justice should change its name to the ‘Department of INJUSTICE’!
Gay Mayor Mentored by Pete Buttigieg Arrested on 56 Child Sex Charges

Summary: The gay Mayor of College Park, Maryland, who was mentored by Biden Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg and joined Joe Biden at the White House on multiple occasions to celebrate gay “pride”, has just been arrested on dozens of child sex charges after authorities found him distributing child pornography.

My Take:
Birds of a feather flock together! Openly gay Maryland mayor Patrick Wojahn was arrested this week on 56 counts of child pornography. He was photographed at the White House with Biden Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg only two months ago as a guest to celebrate Joe Biden’s signing of pro-gay legislation. Wojahn has publicly referred to Buttigieg as “his mentor”, and according to posts on his social media, in addition to his numerous White House visits, Wojahn has also posed for pictures with several high profile Democrat lawmakers, including former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, and former DNC chair, Tom Perez.

It is disturbing to know that this pedophile and his ‘husband’ had access to the White House while Wojahn was reportedly actively distributing child pornography.
I wonder what we would find on Joe Biden and Pete Buttigieg’s hard drives?
Given what we know about Hunter Biden and the contents of his “Laptop From Hell”, and the recent arrest of Buttigieg’s “mentee”, I’d say the apple probably doesn’t fall too far from the tree.
