John,
It’s now officially been more than a decade since the Citizens United v. FEC ruling that put a price tag on our American democracy. The consequences of this couldn’t have been more serious. Dark money, corporate special interests, and mega-donors are more than happy to write gigantic checks to cash-in influence and power. It’s wrong, and it’s corrosive to our democracy.
So I’m particularly honored that “End Citizens United” — the group dedicated to getting dark money out of politics — has awarded me an A rating.
The Citizens United ruling has given the rich and powerful countless champions in Congress John. That’s why I work to be a fearless advocate for workers and everyday Americans. To do that, I reject special-interest cash and rely on small grassroots donations from folks like you to power my campaigns. Will you consider a donation of $10, $15, or whatever you can afford to fuel my campaign in 2020?
“Congressman Johnson knows our democracy works best when every voice is heard and counted, regardless of wealth or political connections.” — Tiffany Muller, president, End Citizens United Action Fund
These last several months, I’ve been cooking with gas in the fight to protect our democracy. From leading the charge to impeach our corrupt President, to opposing the influence of dark money in politics, to holding Attorney General William Barr accountable, I’ve definitely picked some tough fights. I’ve been able to do this because of your help and support, John.
On issues like campaign finance, police militarization, Donald Trump’s tax-cut scam, worker’s rights, and so much more, I’m able to speak truth to power because I only answer to you and not to dark-monied special interests. That’s why I’m proud of my A rating from “End Citizens United” — they see the work we’re doing and know that it’s making a difference!
Will you help me keep up the charge with a small, grassroots donation today? All the victories we’ve had are only possible because of your help, and if we are going to win in 2020 and keep holding the powerful accountable that’ll be because of you too, John.
As always, thank you —
Hank Johnson
