Dear friend,

We
are so grateful for the outpouring of support from this community for the
people struggling with conflict and disaster across the world.

Our team is working around the clock to get essential supplies and clean
water to thousands of families who are homeless or in need of support
after the catastrophic earthquakes that affected Northwest Syria nearly a
month ago.

Mercy Corps sets up temporary shelters and delivers supplies for families
in displacement camps in Northwest Syria.

Even prior to the earthquakes, Mercy Corps was working in 98 displacement
camps and 136 communities to reach 300,000 people affected by ongoing
conflict in the region. Now, we are scaling our operations as people who
have lost homes, families, and livelihoods stream into displacement camps.

We have distributed hundreds of sheets, solar lamps, jerry cans, blankets,
mattresses, and shelter supplies — but items are limited and ongoing
conflict has impeded aid to Northwest Syria.

Because Mercy Corps was operational in this corridor of the country prior
to the earthquake, we have relationships with suppliers that have allowed
us to quickly obtain additional goods. However, disrupted supply chains
and skyrocketing prices will continue to limit families from getting the
resources they need.

Our teams are currently assessing and repairing damage to clean water
sources, while also trucking in emergency drinking water.

Mercy Corps is also working to ensure communities have access to clean
water as displacement camps become more crowded. Mud and soil have been
found in water supplies as a result of the earthquakes, which could lead
to a spike in waterborne diseases at a time when there are already 47,000
reported cholera cases across Syria.

We are so grateful for our teams and
partners working to help deliver urgently needed aid to people facing
crises in 40+ countries around the world.

As we stay the course to help people recover and reestablish their lives,
one of the best ways you can help is by joining our monthly giving
community, Partners In Possibility.
