'DOJ giving states $231M for gun violence prevention programs'
"The funding will help protect children, families, and communities across the country from senseless acts of gun violence."
— Associated Press
John — Millions in funding is headed to Pennsylvania, Washington D.C., and states nationwide to help keep guns out of the hands of dangerous individuals.
The funds will go toward extreme risk protection order programs, state crisis intervention court proceedings, and related violence reduction initiatives. Programs we know are effective at reducing gun-related violence.
Every week, Americans are subjected to mass shootings and a continuation of the daily violence that impacts all of us. I am working daily with House Democrats to put an end to the senseless violence, and I believe an assault weapons ban is a clear next step toward curbing the gun violence epidemic nationwide. Are you with us?
If you support efforts to take assault weapons off our streets to curb gun violence and save lives, please add your name next to mine and call on Congress to pass an assault weapons ban → [link removed]
I voted to pass an assault weapons ban through the House last July. We can do it again — and this time, we need to make it law. The time to make a change is NOW. I remain committed to supporting bills and programs to curb the gun violence plaguing our communities.
Thank you,
Dwight Evans
