Help Fund Critical Repairs!

Last weekend, our Acton, California sanctuary was hit with a rare and unexpected snowstorm that left extensive damage across our 26-acre property. Thanks to the vigilance of on-site staff, the animals came through the storm safely. However, the damage needs to be repaired along with other infrastructure improvements, especially as we face more climate related events.

The daily care of our rescued animal residents remains at the forefront. Stretched between recovery and care efforts, we are asking for your help. Can you support our efforts to restore this haven for farm animals?

Right now, we need to rebuild and repair several essential pieces of infrastructure:

  • Our feed storage area. The metal roof of the feed storage facility collapsed. Without this storage capacity, we require more frequent deliveries to ensure we do not run out of feed.
  • Our large shader for cows like Safran. Shaders protect our residents from the southern California sun. Additional shaders were cut down to avoid a potential collapse on animal residents, which also need critical repairs.
  • Fallen tree limbs destroyed sections of fencing. Nearly every tree on the property has had branches break off, some of which damaged fencing sections.

Our sanctuary environment team is delaying other critical projects as they work to repair damage caused by the storm. We’re also proactively trimming damaged trees and taking other steps to protect our residents and build infrastructure resilience.

If you can, please help fund these critical repairs, and support our ongoing care needs with a donation today!

Farm animals deserve a space of refuge. For 36 years, Farm Sanctuary has provided that place of peace for thousands of rescued farm animals. In turn, these animals are ambassadors, representing the billions more like them currently suffering in an unjust food system.

Our animal care and environment teams are second-to-none, providing daily care and also making repairs as needed. We are thankful that the animals are in such good hands.

With climate change becoming a pressing global issue, we are feeling the effects firsthand. In addition to this recent snowstorm, recent years have also meant increasing preparations for wildfires and supporting sanctuaries nearby that have faced evacuations. With your support, we will be able to continue our vital efforts to combat one of the leading causes of climate change: animal agriculture.

Thank you, in advance, for your timely response and compassionate support!

With gratitude,

Farm Sanctuary
