The latest news from Congresswoman Van Duyne Irving, TX – Each year, I have the honor of hosting a district-wide Congressional App Challenge for middle and high school students. Recently, I held an event to honor the 2022 Texas-24 Congressional App Challenge winners. Congratulations to Krish Agarwal of Coppell High School for winning first place, Nehal Singh of the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science for winning second place, and Vipin Eapen of Hebron High School for winning third place! Last weekend, my Youth Advisory Council had a productive meeting that included a public safety panel. Thank you to all the local law enforcement officers who participated. I will always fight for federal dollars to be sent to North Texas, and I am proud to have helped secure $35 million in grants for the DFW Airport to replace aging infrastructure. This week, I was proud to vote for the REIN IN Inflation Act. President Biden's executive spending has cost hardworking Americans more than $1 trillion in taxpayer dollars and exacerbated inflation. This bill will require the Biden Administration to publish the inflationary impact of executive orders before enacting them. Between committee hearings, I had a chance to meet with several groups of North Texans, including the Texas Association of Business. My colleagues and I gathered this week to celebrate Texas Independence Day. I am proud to represent the greatest state in the nation! On Wednesday, Team Van Duyne joined the Tarrant Area Food Bank for a groundbreaking ceremony for the Sid Richardson Foundation Agricultural Hub. This week, I voted to ensure that your retirement account is not used to fund President Biden’s reckless and partisan ESG agenda. I was pleased to see the Senate follow our lead and pass this important bill. I was recently selected to co-chair the bipartisan Congressional Franchise Caucus. I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to deliver solutions that help our nation’s franchise small businesses continue to operate in today’s difficult regulatory environment. Texas-24 Work of the Week I was proud to help introduce H.R. 1163, the Protecting Taxpayers and Victims of Unemployment Fraud Act. This legislation will help recover the up to $400 billion in stolen taxpayer money and hold criminals and fraudsters accountable. Hometown Hero Our Texas-24 Hometown Hero of the week is Krissy Sarine-Van Brunt, founder of the non-profit organization Just Because. Krissy and her organization focus on giving back to under-resourced communities in the DFW area. I want to thank Krissy for going above and beyond for our community. 2023 North Texas U.S. Service Academies Forum As a Member of Congress, I have the honor of nominating exceptional #TX24 individuals to our nation’s service academies. I’m pleased to announce that the 2023 North Texas U.S. Service Academies Forum will take place on April 1, 2023. Learn more here: [link removed] Rep. Van Duyne in the News Watch Rep.
