This week, House Republicans held Joe Biden and his Administration accountable for the reckless spending that has created the inflation crisis burdening families and small businesses across the country. The House passed the Reduce Exacerbated Inflation Negatively Impacting the Nation (REIN IN) Inflation Act bill, which requires the Biden Administration to publish the inflationary impact of executive orders before enacting them.
In Joe Biden’s first year in office, he issued more executive orders than any president since Gerald Ford. After two years in office, Joe Biden has now issued a shocking 107 executive orders. Biden’s reckless executive spending agenda has cost hardworking families more than $1 trillion in taxpayer dollars and even more in the added cost of inflation, which has risen more than 14 percent since Joe Biden took office.
Specifically, this bill would require the Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisors and Office of Management and Budget to prepare a report including the inflationary effects of any executive order with an estimated impact of at least $1 billion. The White House would then have to report these findings to Congress each year to increase transparency and accountability over executive actions.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) sources, our Southern Border has now exceeded ONE MILLION illegal encounters just four and a half months into Fiscal Year 2023, which is a 20% increase from the same time period in Fiscal Year 2022. So far this fiscal year, more than 300,000 illegal immigrants have evaded apprehension at our Southern Border in the midst of Biden’s border crisis.
The Biden administration has left Texas to fend for itself by failing to act sufficiently to deal with the crisis at the Border. In March of 2021, Gov. Greg Abbott launched Operation Lone Star to respond to a rise in illegal immigration. Texas is being forced to foot the bill for the outrageous cost of illegal immigration. We cannot continue to force Texans to pay for criminal cartels, human smugglers, and illegal immigrants to pour across our Border while the Biden administration looks the other way. President Biden must take responsibility for the crisis he created.
I am proud to join my good friend Rep. Pat Fallon in introducing the Lone Star Reimbursement Act this week.

This week, a reporter asked me what my thoughts were on Speaker McCarthy releasing the January 6 surveillance footage taken at the Capitol and making it available to the hundreds of defendants charged for January 6. But I want to hear your thoughts.

Do you think the surveillance footage from January 6 should be released to the American public?

This week, I hosted a Texas Independence Day Special Order where several of my Texas colleagues celebrate the day that Texas signed the Declaration of Independence, separating itself from Mexico and becoming the Republic of Texas. I am proud to be a Texan… and even prouder to represent the great people of Texas in Washington.
I had my first Science, Space, and Technology Committee hearing of the year on the United States' competitiveness with China. We discussed how we could strategically improve U.S. scientific competitiveness and address the threat we face from the Chinese Communist Party. On the Energy and Commerce Committee, I had two subcommittee hearings where we marked up legislation to unleash American energy and to ensure America leads in critical minerals.
I also got to speak to a great group of Texans in D.C. The Greater Houston Partnership was in Washington, and I was honored to speak to give them an update on the Coastal Spine project and my work on the Energy and Commerce Committee. Finally, I was honored to receive the True Blue award from the Family Research Council. It is the privilege of a lifetime to fight for the people of Texas and defend faith, family, and freedom in Congress.
