Dear John xxxxxx,

I wanted to touch base briefly to let you know about two big pieces of news.  First, I wanted to flag for you that the application period for Community Project Funding requests is now open through March 17.  I've included relevant links and details below, including information about a webinar next week where you can learn about best practices.  This is an opportunity for local governments and eligible non-profit organizations to apply for an opportunity to secure funding for specific projects that will meaningfully benefit the residents of our Congressional District.

Secondly, I am so excited to let you know that we are in the process of opening a new District Office in Skokie, Illinois.  This new, central location close to public transit will ensure that if constituents need assistance, they are able to reach my office to receive help.  Details about this new location are included further down this newsletter.

As always, if you need assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out - my staff and I are here to help!

Very Sincerely,

Schakowsky Announces Move to New Skokie District Office Location, Neighborhood Office Hours

SKOKIE – Today, Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky (IL-09), a Chief Deputy Whip and Ranking Member on the Innovation, Data, and Commerce Subcommittee of the Energy and Commerce Committee, announced the closure of her district office locations in Chicago and Glenview in preparation for a new district office location in Skokie, at 4500 Oakton Street. In addition to the new Skokie office, Schakowsky’s staff will host regular neighborhood office hours in Chicago, Mount Prospect, Fox River Grove, and other locations across the district:

“I take great pride in the constituent services that my staff and I are able to provide in the 9th Congressional District. Honestly, I think we have the best constituent service operation in the country. In 2022 alone, we helped over 2,728 constituents navigate issues with federal agencies and secured over $29.6 million for community projects across the district. In the last two years, we have returned or saved constituents over $2 million. Due to congressional redistricting after the 2020 census, the 9th District has expanded north and west into Lake and McHenry counties. To best serve all my constituents, we will now have one physical district office in Skokie that is accessible to the majority of district residents, includes ample parking, and is close to public transit via the Oakton Skokie Swift stop and several Pace bus routes. We will also be travelling across the district to serve constituents in their communities through neighborhood office hours, including in Lake and McHenry counties.

“This move is bittersweet. For over 24 years, my staff and I served thousands of constituents at our Chicago office location at 5533 Broadway. There, we pioneered the idea of a one-stop shop featuring local, state, and federal officials all in one location to best serve our constituents. Constituents who visited this office received excellent service from their Congresswoman, Alderman, State Senator, State Representative, and Cook County Commissioner. We have loved sharing this incredible space and working closely to serve constituents with Alderman and former State Representative Harry Osterman, Alderwoman Mary Ann Smith, State Senators Mike Simmons, Heather Steans, and Carol Ronen, State Representative Kelly Cassidy, and Cook County Commissioner Bridget Gainer.

“Furthermore, for the last decade, my Glenview office has served as the headquarters for my suburban outreach operation, creating an accessible and convenient location for thousands of constituents to get the assistance they needed.

“I am looking forward to welcoming constituents to my new district office location in Skokie. I am also very excited about our neighborhood office hours that will occur in Chicago, Mount Prospect, Fox River Grove, and other locations across the district to ensure we reach as many constituents as possible. Whether you need help navigating the Social Security Administration, looking into an immigration case, obtaining a passport, or assistance with the IRS, we are here to help, no matter your political party or beliefs. These are just some of the issues my fantastic constituent advocates and I can help you with. We will personally cut through the problems for you, and if we are unable, we will personally connect you with the agency of level of government that best suits your needs."
