Fox News' Controlling Owner, Rupert Murdoch, admitted under oath that Fox News hosts endorsed false claims of 2020 election denial on their shows– despite knowing they were lies. Sean Hannity, Tucker Carlson, and Laura Ingraham even laughed at the absurdity of the claims in private group-chats. They continued platforming lying lawmakers, such as Donald Trump, giving them plenty of airtime to spread dangerous misinformation to millions of viewers. 

The lies and misinformation spewed by 'Faux' News has affected our national politics beyond a doubt, especially here in New Mexico. The NM GOP endorsed known election-deniers like former Secretary of State candidate Audrey Trujillo, who called Biden’s win a ‘coup’, and Former Rep. Yvette Herrell, who voted to overturn the 2020 presidential election results. The NM GOP also ran candidates like NM House Rep. candidate Solomon Peña, who was later arrested for a string of shootings targeting Democrats earlier this year after refusing to accept his own election’s results. 

Although the truth is slowly coming to light, the damage done by Fox News and the radical candidates emboldened by their lies could take years to reverse, if ever. They sowed the seeds of election distrust into the American people knowing that our very democracy relies wholly on election integrity and an honest press corps. This cycle needs to end and it needs to end now. We can’t sit back and watch the fabric of our nation disintegrate at the hands of lies from Fox News to support their hand-selected Republican candidates
