Today Governor Walz signed the Restore the Vote Act into law, restoring voting rights to tens of thousands of formerly incarcerated Minnesotans.

We are a state of second chances. We’re a state of welcoming folks in. We are a state that celebrates democracy. Minnesotans who have completed time for their offenses are living, working, and raising families in their communities deserve the right to vote. 

This monumental victory would never have been possible without the tireless efforts of all those who advocated for this bill. As a state that consistently ranks among the top three in voter turnout, Minnesota will continue to lead in the fight to protect and expand the right to vote.
