John, did you see this?

The winners of this year’s local races will run Pa.’s 2024 election, and the stakes are high -- Philadelphia Inquirer

This year’s elections will be crucial for the future of our democracy. Remember, local officials, not the state, have an upper hand when it comes to elections, up to and including the very certification of results.

In times past, this sacred duty was handled with care and grace. Not anymore, as we saw in both 2020 and 2022, when election deniers flagrantly ignored the law and tried to hold up or completely reject election certification.

John, we have the power to stop that from happening again in 2024 by expanding the electorate, getting out the vote, and electing pro-democracy election officials in 2023. Could you give $10 today to help us continue to defend our democracy?

A few bad local officials have the potential to create a lot of problems locally, statewide, and even nationally. Local officials in Pennsylvania have attempted to stop election certification in the past, and it is up to us to prevent this from happening again.

Election certification is not even the only way bad actors can abuse their power to sabotage our elections. There are more insidious threats with even less accountability, such as giving far-right operatives unauthorized access to election offices and voting machines, and even the passwords to election software.

The term “off-year” is misleading because every single election – whether it be federal, state, or local – has real power to change our lives and communities.

We have municipal, judicial, and local primary elections coming up in May, and it is essential that we get people to the polls. We had incredible turnout for the special elections just last month, and, with your help, we can achieve an even higher turnout this May!

John, we have a lot of voters to connect with between now and May 16th, so we need your support to keep our efforts strong throughout the year. Will you donate $10 right now to help us continue transforming and expanding the Commonwealth’s electorate?

The New Pennsylvania Project was founded in May 2021 to expand Pennsylvania’s electorate, so it reflects the Commonwealth’s demographically changing population. In the next four years, NPP will engage and empower young residents and those living in underrepresented immigrant communities and communities of color. We register communities to vote, provide civic education about the issues that matter in their neighborhoods, and mobilize Pennsylvanians to vote in every election.
