John —
What does "fixing democracy" actually look like?
That term gets tossed around a lot — including by yours truly — but it can be hard to even imagine how to go about actually doing it.
Since you've been with us for a while, you know we talk a lot about our city-by-city, state-by-state approach to a problem as massive as our broken government. We also email you first when we have something you can do about it.
But it's worth taking a step back and breaking this whole thing down. So our policy experts have narrowed in on the policy solutions we know will pack the biggest punch to fixing our broken political system.
- Cracking Down on Corruption – As a leading voice in the anti-corruption movement, we’re pulling out all the stops to root out corruption from our government. Strong campaign finance, ethics and lobbying laws can loosen the grip that corruption has on our nation and move us toward a government that truly works for us all.
- Making Elections More Representative – It should come as no surprise that we’re continuing our work to spread Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) across the country. RCV gives voters better choices and results in better representation in government. Not to mention it saves taxpayer money by eliminating the need for runoff elections!
- Ending Partisan Gerrymandering – Partisan gerrymandering squashes the voice of voters and emboldens candidates on the fringe. By passing Independent Redistricting Commissions, we can help ensure the voters choose the politicians that represent them, not the other way around.

Now that we've broken down our policy approach, I want you to know there is something meaningful you can do to make it happen.
Our Common Wealth community is vital to our success, because it gives us the security of knowing we’ve got their support month after month. We can budget, plan campaigns, and dedicate resources to, well, packing that huge punch against corruption.
We willingly take on the big challenge of fixing our broken political system because we know that our community has our back.
Can you join us in making a monthly commitment to the Common Wealth so we can tackle these three priorities?
We're right now training campaigners, supporting efforts on the ground in several states, and working in the media and on the internet to push these priority areas forward. We need you to back us up.
With your help, we regularly punch above our weight class. But that's what it takes to knock out the problem of corruption in politics.
Let’s get to work,
