Friend,
After one of our first committee meetings of the 118th Congress, Matt Gaetz offered an amendment to start the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance. My democratic colleagues and I totally supported his amendment.
Who does Gaetz then proceed to invite to one of our committee meetings to recite the Pledge of Allegiance? Someone he met at a gun club – who allegedly committed murder. Why is this important? Because during procedurals and rule testimony, Rep. McClintock himself literally mentioned, “it's not like we’re going to bring someone here who committed murder.” Matt Gaetz, that wasn’t an open invitation to prove us all wrong.
Look, the reason there are such large trust issues with extremists like Matt Gaetz, is because when they attempt to "own the libs" it backfires on them. They end up embarrassing themselves – and do things like invite an alleged murderer to a committee hearing.
All of this is because Gaetz thought he could prove a point by getting me and my Democratic colleagues to vote against something as patriotic as saying the Pledge of Allegiance.
Matt Gaetz and his MAGA mob can play games and conduct all the stunts they want. But friend, I am here to get shit done! Please help me continue fighting for our democracy and fighting against embarrassing extremists like Matt Gaetz by donating whatever you can to my campaign today.
With gratitude,
—Eric
