Johh,
Methane is a highly potent greenhouse gas in the earth’s atmosphere that traps heat and is responsible for around 30% of global warming. Oil and gas companies have been releasing it into our environment at their drilling sites.
While the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has already released a proposed rule to curb these dangerous emissions, Diana believes it is not enough.
While the supplemental proposal takes some important steps to reduce pollution from routine flaring of gas at oil wells — such as requiring oil and gas companies to monitor emissions at drilling sites — stricter safeguards against this harmful practice are critical to reduce pollution and protect health.
Cutting methane pollution from the oil and gas industry is one of the most immediate and cost-effective ways to slow the rate of global warming while improving air quality and protecting public health.
As Ranking Member of the Subcommittee on Energy, Climate, and Grid Security, Diana knows we can't sit back and allow these companies to continue destroying our environment. That's why she and 78 of her colleagues are calling on the EPA to impose stronger restrictions on these companies.
Will you stand with them to fight global warming and protect our environment? Join Diana in calling on the EPA to tighten restrictions and curb methane emissions >>
