[ [link removed] ]What is happening at the border? [ [link removed] ]+2,400,000 Asylum seekers expelled Many
republicans claim the border is open but the reality is that President Biden
expelled over 2,400,000 asylum seekers from the United States under the
Trump-era Title 42 policy. Alexandria has joined 76 other Democrats in Congress
in opposing President Biden’s use of Title 42. But now, President Biden has
unveiled a new rule that will impose severe limitations for all asylum seekers
who travel through a third country to reach the Southern border. A federal court
struck down a similar asylum ban imposed by President Trump as unconstitutional.
Alexandria, along with many colleagues, has spoken out against the new policy as
well. [ [link removed] ]The truth is: without immigrants, our economy would suffer. Immigrants
added $2 trillion to the national GDP in 2016, and nearly $460 billion to local
and federal taxes in 2018. Whereas a University of Pennsylvania study found that
a Republican bill to severely restrict all immigration would cost our country
4.6 million jobs by 2040. [ [link removed] ]A compassionate immigration system is necessary to
make our country strong. [ [link removed] ]Make a contribution today. If you’re able to, please
split a contribution today between two immigrant-rights organizations: New York
Immigration Coalition and New York State Youth Leadership Council. The New York
State Youth Leadership Council is the first organization in New York led by
undocumented youth. Their goal is to give undocumented youth the tools and space
to organize and create change in our communities. NY Immigration Coalition is an
umbrella advocacy group representing over 200 immigrant and refugee rights
groups, and is working to advance opportunity and justice for all New Yorkers.
100% of your contribution will go directly to these organizations. Make a
contribution today.
