I never imagined running for Congress, John.

I grew up in poverty in India where sometimes our house lacked running water and electricity.

At 24 years old, I came to America in search of opportunity and a better life with just $20 in my pocket.

Through a lot of hard work and a little bit of luck, I earned an MBA and a PhD in Chemistry.

For over 25 years, I built small businesses and created more than 500 well-paying jobs that helped families succeed.

Now, I’m starting my first term in Congress as Michigan’s FIRST ever Indian American Representative.

I was able to come to America and achieve the American Dream.

But today, that dream is simply not possible for far too many in our country.

That’s why it’s so crucial that we elect more AAPI leaders to Congress and ensure people with stories like mine are represented, John.
