This week, we filed one of the most important bills a Governor and her administration put forward every year —our first state budget.

We are proposing sweeping new initiatives to meet this moment , to build a strong economy, create livable communities and a sustainable future.

But this isn’t a line item exercise for us. Behind every proposal, every allocation, there are real people. We are prioritizing issues that showcase our values and the direction we want to take our Commonwealth.

This week, we charted a path focused on ensuring our state is a competitive and affordable place for residents to live and for businesses to locate and grow.

And what we feel strongest about are the proposals that focus on our sustainable future. From housing to transportation, economic development to climate change, Massachusetts is facing enormous challenges – but those challenges also present some of our greatest opportunities. We need to meet this moment with innovation, aggressiveness, and urgency.

We’re grateful to our partners in the Legislature, who we will work with in the coming months to complete a state spending plan to move forward on our shared goals. Hear more about our plan by watching our news conference here.
