96 Honoring the Life of the Late Jackie WalorskiSeven months ago
to this day, tragedy struck the Hoosier state.
On August 3, 2022,
Congresswoman Jackie Walorski, along with two members of her staff,
Zachery Potts and Emma Thomson, were killed in a car accident while
traveling throughout her beloved Second Congressional District.
In
her years representing the Hoosiers of northern Indiana as both a state
representative and member of Congress, and through her ministry service
around the word, Jackie built a legacy of selfless service — a legacy
that will be remembered for decades to come.
To further this legacy,
Jackie's family, including her husband Dean and her mother Martha, have
established the Jackie Walorski Memorial Scholarship and the Jackie
Walorski Memorial Ministry Scholarship for high school students in the
Second Congressional District that plan to pursue a four-year degree as
a full-time student. The Memorial Scholarship will be given to students
in programs related to public affairs, politics, or journalism, while
the Memorial Ministry Scholarship will be for those in ministry- or
mission-related fields. The first scholarships will be offered in the
2024-25 school year.
I ask that you consider helping to honor her
legacy by [link removed]
making a contribution of whatever you can to the scholarship funds. For

 Governor Holcomb's Week That WasPushing
Back on the EPA, Ensuring Safety Governor Eric Holcomb welcomes
Ambassador Sameh Aboulenein of the Egyptian Consul General in Chicago to
the statehouse this week.
On Tuesday, Governor Eric Holcomb released a
[link removed]
s_environmental_protection_agencys_announcement?utm_campaign=widget&utm_
medium=widget&utm_source=State+of+Indiana statement pushing back on the
EPA's decision to transport hazardous material into the state from the
East Palestine, Ohio, train derailment while citing a lack of
communication from the federal agency after learning about the decision
third-hand. Later that day, Gov. Holcomb spoke with the administrator
of the EPA.
"The materials should go to the nearest facilities, not
moved from the far eastern side of Ohio to the far western side of
Indiana."
— Gov. Holcomb on Tuesday, Feb. 28
Then on Thursday, Gov.
Holcomb issued a statement announcing that the administration would
immediately be contracting with a third-party lab to conduct rigorous
testing of the materials, which are scheduled to begin today. Gov.
Holcomb noted that the testing would be the next step in providing
assurance to the communities in Putnam County.
"As I indicated in

47CIT1r2IG7_x0/s/2136130329/br/155512152549-l earlier statement, it was
extremely disappointing to learn through a press conference held on
Monday, Feb. 27, 2023, confirming that the EPA had chosen Indiana as a
location to deposit and remediate the waste from East Palestine, Ohio.
This was made after our administration directly conveyed that the
materials should go to the nearest facilities, not moved from the far
eastern side of Ohio to the far western side of Indiana. As you can
expect, I expressed as much to the EPA administrator when we spoke on
the phone Tuesday, Feb. 28.
All of us can agree that we should do
everything within our control to provide assurance to our communities.
This testing is the next necessary step. Since making this decision, we
have informed the EPA and the site operator urging them to coordinate
closely with this 3rd party laboratory to carry out this important
testing. Sampling is scheduled to begin tomorrow, Friday, March 3."
Celebrating Women's History Month This month, we celebrate the
contributions and achievements of the many Hoosier women who, in town
halls to the halls of Congress, work every single day to deliver
results for Indiana.
Halftime at the Statehouse It's officially
halftime at the statehouse.
Republican-backed bills that cut taxes,
make historic investments in education, strengthen public safety,
reaffirm parental rights, protect Hoosiers' data privacy, and much more
have passed one chamber and await to be heard in the other.

 Fox Business: House passes bill
to 'REIN IN' executive orders that worsen inflation
In voting against
the REIN IN Act, Democrat Frank Mrvan once again put Joe Biden first
and Hoosiers last.
He wants higher prices and more inflation.

5FmZNitoe5NhBCMBZbxrJA Fox Business:
The House on Wednesday passed a
bill that, if enacted, would require federal agencies to analyze the
inflationary impact of executive orders issued by the president.
It
comes in response to President Biden’s executive actions that critics
say have worsened inflation — in particular, his cancellation of the
Keystone XL pipeline shortly after taking office, his proposed $400
billion student loan handout that’s the subject of pending cases before
the Supreme Court and his extensions of the pause on student loan
repayments to the tune of about $5 billion per month.
...
Known
as the Reduce Exacerbated Inflation Negatively Impacting the Nation
Act, or REIN IN Inflation Act, the bill would require the Office of
Management and Budget (OMB) and the Council of Economic Advisers to
provide an inflation estimate for each executive order that is
projected to cause an annual budgetary effect of at least $1 billion.
The estimate would be required to determine whether the executive
order will have no significant impact on inflation, a quantifiable
inflationary impact on the consumer price index (CPI), or a significant
impact on inflation that can’t be quantified at the time of the
estimate.
Story continues.
 Now Hiring
Internshttp://indiana.gop/internships If you know a college student
that's interested in stepping into the world of Hoosier politics, we've
got them covered.
We're looking for young, talented Hoosiers to join
us at our headquarters in Indianapolis. This opportunity allows them to
get hands-on experience working for Indiana's largest and most
successful political organization, providing administrative support to
staff and taking on special projects (and more) while helping build
their resume, gain insight into the political and legislative
processes, and make valuable connections. And we'll do this all while
helping them earn college credit.
