Neighbors,
After the weather-related pause in legislative action last week, we were back at the Capitol with a full calendar of events and meetings this week. At this point in session, committees are meeting all day and into the evening to hear many bills as we near committee deadlines later this month.
Yesterday, the full House passed my bill [ [link removed] ] regarding physical education standards by a vote of 103-27.
Also yesterday, the full House passed a consumer protection bill [ [link removed] ] related to price gouging during an abnormal market disruption, such as a natural disaster or a pandemic. Also approved was the Pathway Home Act [ [link removed] ], aimed at preventing homelessness, and a bill to ratify state employee labor [ [link removed] ] agreements.
We also took final votes to re-approve the Driver?s Licenses for All [ [link removed] ] and the Restore the Vote [ [link removed] ] bills, which were recently passed by the Minnesota Senate and will be signed into law by Governor Walz. __
Budget Forecast
Minnesota Management and Budget released the economic forecast [ [link removed] ] this week and projections remain largely unchanged from the November forecast. House DFLers believe the state budget is a fiscal document and a moral document reflecting Minnesotans? values and numbers only tell part of the story. As we craft our budget, I will listen to you to ensure Minnesota reflects a place where everyone can thrive and succeed.
Celebrating Women
March is Women?s History Month. This is an excellent time to honor and celebrate the contributions of our predecessors and all women who improve our lives and communities every day.
