We received a kind message from one of the asylum seekers we assisted through Title 42 exemptions. The original Spanish message read as follows:
"Buenas tardes, saludos desde Springfield MA, soy un migrante cubano LGBTQ+ VIH+ que fue ayudado por una ONG y casa de migrantes en Tijuana Baja California para poder cruzar.
Actualmente se me ha hecho complicado por todo el Tema de migracion, pero aprovecho para superarme y aprender ingles.
Quiero expresarles todo mi apoyo, no economicamente porque a penas puedo pagar Renta, pero mi meta es lograr superarme y trabajar para una organizacion como ustedes."

We are looking for volunteer barbers to help out on our April 1st Caravan of Love! Email us now to donate your talents and help us provide haircuts for migrant families in our supported Tijuana shelters.
We collaborated with barber and fellow migrant Cristhian at the beginning of this year, who taught us how important and meaningful this service can be. Through our Shelter Aid program we provide basic and emergent needs for the shelters, but also services of love like this one that boosts morale and provides some much-needed self-care!
This event will take place Saturday, April 1st at 7:30 AM. We will meet at 2258 Island Ave. San Diego, CA 92102 (Sherman Heights Community Center) and then cross over into Tijuana. You will need a passport or other appropriate travel documents as we will be crossing into Tijuana. More details will be disclosed upon signup.

Psicologos Sin Fronteras are one of most instrumental partners in providing aid nad support to the migrant families in the Tijuana shelters supported by our Shelter Aid program.
In addition to the tireless work they provided for Title 42 exemptions with asylum seekers, they also provided mental health clinics.
These mobile clinics were offered in an effort to provide support and healing to migrant communities who have endured many types of trauma. The main purpose of this clinic was to implement awareness workshops on the issues of gender-based violence and sexual harassment in order to inform and prevent such issues. It also served as a way to detect cases and provide health services of comprehensive care from the psychological, medical, legal, and channeling for the mitigation of these factors in the migrant communities.
The clinics were offered in group settings but also offered to individual family units if they so requested.

First Presbyterian Church of Liberty

We want to give a huge shoutout and thank you to the ladies of First Presbyterian Church of Liberty, all the way out in Kansas City. We are always in awe of how supporters or people interested in helping find us all over the US and more! They shared the following message:
“My church book study recently read “American Dirt.” While we are aware of the controversy over the author’s misrepresentation of Latinx culture, immigrant experiences and personal portrayals it did open our eyes regarding the need for our church communities to be agents of change and support for immigrants.”

Biden administration to limit asylum to migrants who pass through a 3rd nation
The Biden administration said Tuesday that it will generally deny asylum to migrants who show up at the U.S. southern border without first seeking protection in a country they passed through, mirroring an attempt by the Trump administration that never took effect because it was blocked in court.
The measure, while stopping short of a total ban, imposes severe limitations on asylum for any nationality except Mexicans, who don't have to travel through a third country to reach the U.S.
The measure is almost certain to face legal challenges. President Donald Trump pursued a similar ban in 2019 but a federal appeals court prevented it from taking effect.
The Biden administration rule proposed Tuesday has to first go through a 30-day public comment period before it can be formally adopted. If adopted it would remain in place for two years.

Alone and Exploited, Migrant Children Work Brutal Jobs Across the U.S.
Arriving in record numbers, they’re ending up in dangerous jobs that violate child labor laws — including in factories that make products for well-known brands like Cheetos and Fruit of the Loom.
It was almost midnight in Grand Rapids, Mich., but inside the factory everything was bright. A conveyor belt carried bags of Cheerios past a cluster of young workers. One was 15-year-old Carolina Yoc, who came to the United States on her own last year to live with a relative she had never met.
About every 10 seconds, she stuffed a sealed plastic bag of cereal into a passing yellow carton. It could be dangerous work, with fast-moving pulleys and gears that had torn off fingers and ripped open a woman’s scalp.
The factory was full of underage workers like Carolina, who had crossed the Southern border by themselves and were now spending late hours bent over hazardous machinery, in violation of child labor laws. At nearby plants, other children were tending giant ovens to make Chewy and Nature Valley granola bars and packing bags of Lucky Charms and Cheetos — all of them working for the processing giant Hearthside Food Solutions, which would ship these products around the country.
